Philip Nevenhoven’s Biography

Philip Nevenhoven has 30 years of experience in the aerospace industry, where he has served as a program manager and quality assurance leader. His work has included supporting executive, commercial, and military aircraft systems. Throughout his career, he has led complex programs, improved production quality, and guided teams to meet industry standards, including AS9100, ISO 9001, and defense compliance requirements.

His path began with a commitment to craftsmanship and problem-solving, shaped by practical learning and early responsibility. Growing up in a small town in Iowa, he was curious about how things were built and how they worked. At 13, Philip helped remodel a house for a friend’s father, who owned a construction company. That summer, he completed his first full electrical wiring job, sparking a lasting interest in hands-on work.

During high school, he spent breaks working with a general contractor, gaining experience in each stage of residential construction. His dedication and skill were noticed by his high school shop teacher, who joined him on construction sites during the summer for additional learning.

After earning a degree in carpentry, he returned to home construction and later challenged himself with a union carpentry apprenticeship test in a nearby city. At 19, he passed the exam, becoming the youngest to do so without a formal apprenticeship.

Nevenhoven later moved from residential construction to fine interior trim carpentry, but after a job site injury, he decided to change direction. In 1995, he entered the aerospace field in Kansas, where he worked on the interiors of custom business jets, marking the beginning of his long career in the aerospace industry.

With his background in craftsmanship, he transitioned into roles in quality, engineering, and program management within the aerospace industry. He worked with major aerospace organizations in the U.S., Canada, and France, supporting executive and military aviation programs. He led a team of over 50 quality engineers and program managers, delivering large-scale programs while consistently improving processes and product delivery.

Philip has managed cross-functional teams in engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing, ensuring FAA conformity, AS9100 compliance, and ISO quality standards. His responsibilities included overseeing aircraft interior production, seating systems, and managing program lifecycles from design to delivery. He worked closely with OEMs and suppliers to manage product conformity and resolve technical and compliance challenges in various project environments.

Nevenhoven has held leadership roles in training and process improvement, focusing on operational efficiency, reducing rework, and supporting FAA audits and customer certifications. His skills with CATIA V5, ENOVIA, and lean quality systems have supported design improvement and cost reductions across multiple platforms.

Philip is recognized for motivating and mentoring teams, helping them achieve consistent performance in engineering, production, and compliance. He is known for handling tight deadlines while maintaining steady progress, even as priorities shift. With clear and diplomatic communication, he has aligned stakeholders and led discussions to avoid conflict and support decisions. He has served as a primary contact during inspections and certification phases, managing audits and working with the FAA and international authorities to maintain delivery timelines.

Nevenhoven earned his Catia V5 Certificate from Wichita State University’s National Institute for Aviation Research in 2006 and received his AOS/Certificate in Building Trades/Carpentry from Ellsworth Community College in 1989.

He supports organizations like Goodwill and similar nonprofits and continues to value giving back. He enjoys home renovations and fitness, participating in distance running and earning awards for top finishes.
