The Bayard Cutting Arboretum in Great River is a very relaxing place. If you love to relax, this is the place for you. Some of the things you can do at the arboretum is take a walk by the lake or the woodland forest, and explore rooms that people actually lived in long ago. There are also many different animals like ospreys, swans, ducks, birds, eagles and turtles. There is a calendar of events throughout the year that offers concerts and guided tours.
My father, a New York City police officer, makes me proud
Have you ever wondered what it is like to be a police officer? My dad is a police officer. He works at One Police Plaza in Manhattan. My dad is the leader of the hostage negotiation team. When I say hostage negotiation team, this means when people call 911 and they are in a crisis, my dad talks to them until they feel better or until help arrives. My dad has been a police officer for 20 years. Before he worked at One Police Plaza, he worked at a precinct. He would take my brother and me to visit.
Tennis Hall of Famer Andy Roddick talks with Long Island kids
We were able to meet and interview International Tennis Hall of Fame great Andy Roddick when he was on Long Island recently. Were you surprised to make it into the Tennis Hall of Fame in 2017? I was surprised to make it in 2017. I thought my career resume was enough, maybe, on the basis of some people that were already in. I absolutely did not expect to get in the first year. I don’t know that I was deserving of that, but I was certainly thrilled when it happened.
Courting time with tennis greats Courier and Roddick
On Saturday we went to the NYCB Live arena in Uniondale. We were invited to meet tennis legends Andy Roddick and Jim Courier. After going through security, we gathered and discussed the plans for the day. When we arrived at the Coliseum, we have to admit that we were nervous since we did not know what to expect. We went downstairs and waited for our first guest to arrive, Jim Courier. After a while, we went into the press room where we were introduced to Courier and then interviewed him.
