As part of the 12-month Phase 2 e-HKD Pilot Programme (Pilot Programme), Visa and ANZ intend to investigate different ways to enable Australia-based corporates to invest in Hong Kong-based funds. Visa and ANZ plan to utilise a new tokenisation solution designed to help banks issue fiat-backed tokens in a sandbox environment to test a Delivery vs Payment (DvP) settlement use case, involving e-HKD and tokenised bank deposits, as part of the Project eHKD+.

ANZ sells 16.5% of shareholding in AmBank
The sale will reduce ANZ’s shareholding in AmBank from 21.7% to 5.2% and is in line with ANZ’s strategy of simplifying the Bank. Following the sale, ANZ will continue to have one nominated director on the AmBank Board. The sale proceeds will increase ANZ’s CET1 ratio by approximately 16bps[1] and are not expected to have a material impact on profit. Settlement is anticipated to occur on 8 March 2024.
ANZ delivers the largest Sustainability-Linked Facility for a private credit fund in Asia-Pacific
A milestone for both the leading Asia-Pacific investment firm and the market, the facility links the interest rate margin to the sustainability performance of the fund. If four key performance indicators are consistently met, a reduction in total interest paid over the facility term will be triggered, alternatively if not met, an increase to total interest will be applied.

Consumer confidence bounces back
"The consumer confidence survey was carried out ahead of the announcement of the plan for Victoria to emerge out of the lockdown," ANZ Head of Australian Economics, David Plank said. "Even taking this into account, the uptick in confidence comes as a positive surprise.
ANZ job ads: job ads take a u-turn
September 2, 2019 After rising for two consecutive months, ANZ Job Ads fell 2.8% in August. This pushed the annual decline down to -11.4%. In trend terms, job ads fell -0.5% m/m and -11.2% y/y. ANZ’s Head of Australian Economics, David Plank, commented: We had postulated that the gain in job ads in June and July was a consequence of the holiday and election-related weakness in May, rather than a sign of genuine recovery. The drop in job ads in August gives credence to that view.
ANZ Job Ads: Heading in the right direction
ANZ Australian Job Ads rose for the second month in a row in July, posting growth of 0.8% m/m after the jump of 4.9% in June. These two consecutive gains followed the election-impacted plunge of 8.3% m/m in May and previous weakness. This means that despite the gain for the month, July job ads are 9.1% lower than the prior year - a toucher weaker than the 9% annual decline recorded in June. In trend terms, job ads fell -0.6% m/m and -10.7% y/y.
Tax refunds boost confidence
ANZ-Roy Morgan Consumer Confidence rose 1.9 per cent last week, building on the 0.3 per cent gain in the previous week. All the subindices rose except ‘current finances’. Current finances declined 0.9 per cent after a 2.8 per cent jump in the previous week. Future finances gained 1.2 per cent. Economic conditions subindices were more encouraging, with current economic conditions up by 5.8 per cent and future economic conditions flat.
ANZ Job Ads: Down but not out
ANZ Australian Job Ads plummeted in May, but recovered strongly in the last week of the month. We think this indicates much of the decline for the month as a whole was due to the April ‘holiday year effect’ and the timing of the election. In seasonally adjusted terms, job ads fell 8.4% m/m and 14.9% y/y. This is the weakest monthly result since Jan-2010 and the steepest annual fall since 2013. In trend terms, job ads fell 1.8% m/m and 10.1% y/y.
ANZ Stateometer: Housing sector slows economic momentum in key Australian states
ANZ senior Economist Cherelle Murphy said: “The weighty influence of the housing sector in Australia is largely to blame for the loss of momentum in the June quarter, with every state except Tasmania experiencing a drag due to the shift in sentiment. Across the board the labour story is positive, with above trend employment growth. We have seen momentum slip from the eight-year high recorded in the March quarter, but this was almost inevitable.

Social customers will transform banking | ANZ BlueNotes
Across the financial services industry there is still scepticism around the value of social media. “Isn't it personal?" some ask. “What's the value to a bank of embracing social media? And are our customers really even on it?" But KPMG's new Banking on the Future report should extinguish a lot of that doubt. It investigates the mindset and expectations of professional, educated 18-to-30-year olds and its findings could apply to businesses in any industry.
