Donald Trump Rips Ginsburg: "Her Mind Is Shot, She Should Resign" As NYT Says Trump Is Right
Following two days of inexplicable attacks by none other than a Supreme Court Justice, who said she would move to New Zealand if Trump were elected, as well as calling Trump "a faker", the Donald finally snapped and ripped Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in a Twitter message late Tuesday. "Justice Ginsburg of the U.S. Supreme Court has embarrassed all by making very dumb political statements about me," Trump wrote on his Twitter account.
Majority Of Americans 'Disapprove' Of Comey's Decision On Hillary
A majority of Americans disapprove of FBI director James Comey’s recommendation that Clinton not be charged with a crime over her email arrangement, by 56-35. But, perhaps unsurprisingly, as WaPo reports, there is a striking difference between Republicans and Democrats as cognitive dissonance in the latter seems extreme given that about two-thirds think the issue of Hillary's "extremely reckless, unsophisticated" history is unrelated to what she'd do as president.
Paul Craig Roberts' Skeptical Take On The Orlando Shooting
Authored by Paul Craig Roberts, Some readers have asked for my take on the Orlando Shooting. I don’t have one. Let’s see if together we can form a reasonable view. Let’s start with the basic first question. Before there can be a murder declared, there must be a body. Has anyone seen on TV or in newspapers pictures of dead bodies? Bodies should be readily available if the reports are correct that fifty people were killed and 50 or more were wounded and in hospital.
The FBI And NSA Won't Keep Us Safe
Submitted by Ryan McMaken via The Mises Institute, The NSA was too busy spying on your family to stop the Orlando gunman. But why aren't night clubs keeping tabs on people who walk in with rifles? According to various sources, the gunman in Orlando's Saturday massacre, Omar Mateen, was being investigated by the FBI.
Too Vast To Manage - Why Monetary Central Planning Must Fail
Submitted by MN Gordon via Economic Prism blog, (annotated by Acting-Man's Pater Tenebrarum), Beyond Human Capacity Distilling down and projecting out the economy’s limitless spectrum of interrelationships is near impossible to do with any regular accuracy. The inputs are too vast. The relationships are too erratic. The economy – complex and ever-changing interrelations. Image credit: Andrea Dionne Quite frankly, keeping tabs on it all is beyond human capacity.
Ex-CEO Of Largest Swiss Insurer Commits Suicide, Three Years After CFO Hanged Himself
In the latest tragic news from the world of finance, earlier today Zurich Insurance, the largest Swiss insurer which employs 55,000 people and provides general insurance and life insurance products in more than 170 countries, reported that Martin Senn, the company's former chief executive officer who stepped down in a December reshuffle, has committed suicide. He was 59.
Nobel Peace Prize Winner President Obama Speaks At Arlington National Cemetery - Live Feed
Having pledged to end the wars of his predecessor, President Obama came into office almost eight years ago as an anti-war candidate but instead has now been at war longer than any other American president. Mr. Obama, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009, has made endless promises of "bring the troops home" or "no boots on the ground" but will have a longer tour of duty as a wartime president than Franklin D. Roosevelt, Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard M. Nixon or his hero Abraham Lincoln.
Recession Watch: Freight Volume Drops to Worst Level since 2010
Freight shipments by truck and rail in the US fell 4.9% in April from the beaten-down levels of April 2015, according to the Cass Transportation Index, released on Friday. It was the worst April since 2010, which followed the worst March since 2010. In fact, shipment volume over the four months this year was the worst since 2010. This is no longer statistical “noise” that can easily be brushed off.
London's Ex-Mayor Compares The European Union To Hitler
If the US presidential election has devolved into a comical soundbite free-for-fall, then the UK has its hands full with Brexit, and how the two opposing camps are approaching the UK's vote to exit the Eurozone on June 23.
How Hedge Funds Invest Heavily In Washington D.C.'s Culture Of Corruption
Earlier this week, Ryan Grim and Paul Blumenthal published a blockbuster piece in the Huffington Post, titled: The Vultures’ Vultures: How A New Hedge-Fund Strategy Is Corrupting Washington. It details the secretive world of the dark money groups representing mercenary hedge funds in their insatiable quest for more and more money. In many ways, it’s merely a microcosm of America in 2016.
S&P Hits Unch For The Year Again... Now What?
Unpersuaded by either the plight of the pensioners or the prospect of business growth in Arizona, Ducey vetoed gold. This is his second time to shoot down gold.
Nasdaq Plunges After Microsoft Misses Top And Bottom Line; Google Tumbles On Poor Earnings
Google, pardon Alphabet, may have just killed the strong earnings narrative. Moments ago advertising behemoth (with various ancillary services) GOOGL reported Q1 earnings and sales, and both were a miss. Virtually every other data point was also a miss: The stock, which last year repriced higher in a dramatic fashion following blowout late year quarter, has just retraced most of its gains. Worse, with Microsoft also reporting and missing... Not only is the FANG complex all sliding, ...
After Belgium, Traders "Fear The Geopolitical Effects Will Persist"
The horrific events in Brussels are still resonating across Europe today. And, as Bloomberg's Mark Cudmore explains, despite what many analysts are saying, the real impact is likely to be more widespread than the very intense emotional anguish. Mohamed El-Erian -- a regular Bloomberg columnist -- has been one of the most high-profile commentators to express the view that the “macroeconomic effects tend to be limited, and they fade,” in reference to acts of terrorism.
Apple, FANGs, & Monetary Fools
This week the great tree of Apple finally stopped growing toward the sky. During its latest quarter, in fact, i-Pad sales were down 25%, Mac volume came in 4% lower and even the i-Phone barely breached the flat line. In all, Apple’s mighty machine of double digit growth posted a revenue gain of just 1.7% over prior year, while its net income was essentially flat. The real news, however, was that management is now projecting an actual 11% y/y decline in sales during the current quarter.
"Zero Confidence": 8 In 10 Americans Think Obama Is Losing To ISIS
Who says the terrorists aren’t winning against our freedoms? With Obama in office, it may be a certainty. Nearly 15 years after the 9/11 attacks, the United States is weaker than ever, and it has perhaps dug its own grave engaging in protracted conflicts and wars in the name of hunting down terrorists. According to a new poll, Americans today see their country as losing the battle against terror despite having the most powerful military in the world.
Majority Of Millennials Have Under $1,000 In Savings
Millennials are projected to number 75.3 million for 2015, surpassing a projected 74.9 million for Baby Boomers. The Millennials will therefore comprise a greater percentage of the population than Baby Boomers for the first time. To gain insight into the saving habits of Millennials, we recently performed a survey of those from the ages of 18 to 34. We received 2,585 responses to our survey. The results of our survey found that over 50% of Millennials have less than $1,000 in savings.
