Phub Dorji’s Biography

I am Phub Dorji. I grew up in Bhutan, which is a country of many truths, half-truths, myths, and histories. It has made me a person of full of them. I want to one day write and tell you all about the emptiness of it all. And I genuinely do think that. I do not claim to be a Buddhist, so don't worry about me being a fundamentalist. The world is really emptiness. It's hard to explain, maybe one day I'll tell you what I know.

But before that, I'd like to write till I understand myself, people, and the world. It is why sometimes my content may seem erratic and diverse. I swear there's a singularity behind them all. I want to understand how the world got to where it is. I want to understand capitalism, and inequality and its place in capitalism, the development of cuisines, people's anger, falling in love, and then, once again, emptiness.

I am not entirely a head-in-the-clouds guy. I also have a few skills I've picked up for the purpose of sustenance and impressing people. I am really good at SEO. It goes well with my interest in behavioral economics and the aforementioned interest to study people. SEO is all about knowing what words someone who might want to engage with your business would use, or what type of content they would relate to.

Related to that, I'm also good at social media management. As a member of the first generation that grew within the social media zeitgeist, I gotta tell you my instincts for this stuff are great. It helps that I am good at statistical analysis (from taking too many statistics classes and working as a business analyst a few years in Bhutan). They play well together and together allow me to engage with people on the internet well.

I also have the unfortunate skill of being able to turn any sane, sensible piece of writing into poetry. Of all levels. If, for some reason, you want me to do that for you, I can. And I can throw in metaphors, alliterations, similes and the like as much as you want. I can even write simple rhyming prose. That's fine too.

Ah yes, I've worked as a freelance digital marketer for businesses all over the world, as a copywriter for a few of them, and written some journalism-level stuff. I still sometimes contribute to Business Bhutan, a financial newspaper in Bhutan.

I'd like to publish a few stories of my own someday. That's aside from the writings on capitalism, inequality, and emptiness I've already promised. Help me on that journey. Pay me to write for you.
