A Highly Stable Photoactivatable Pt(IV) Prodrug with Lower Dark Cytotoxicity for Photochemotherapy
Abstract Click to copy section linkSection link copied! Photoactivation of Pt(IV) prodrugs to Pt(II) species at tumor sites is a promising strategy to reduce systemic toxicity of platinum-based antitumor drugs. An ideal Pt(IV) prodrug should remain stable in the dark and be rapidly activated upon irradiation. However, existing photoactivatable Pt(IV) prodrugs, based on carboxylato ligands, are gradually reduced in the dark and require long irradiation times for photoactivation.
Spatial Pattern of Farmland Transfer in Liaoning Province, China
Abstract : Farmland transfer (FT) is the key to achieving moderate agricultural scale management in China. Clarifying the spatial pattern of FT is important to improve FT strategies. In this study, the multinomial logit model was used to reveal the spatial pattern of FT in Liaoning Province, Northeast China. On this basis, the reasons for its formation were discussed, and suggestions were proposed. According to the statistical results, 39.7% of the sample peasant households participated in FT.
Does the Policy of Decoupled Subsidies Improve the Agricultural Economic Resilience?-Evidence from China’s Main Corn Producing Regions
Abstract : Various forms of agricultural subsidy policies often have a significant impact on the development of the agricultural economy and also shape the differentiated spatial pattern of regional agricultural economic resilience, while research on the evolution process of agricultural economic resilience and its influencing mechanisms is still very scarce. This study is based on the impact of China’s cancellation of the temporary corn storage policy on corn prices in 2016.
A Photoisomerizable Zinc (II) Complex Inhibits Microtubule Polymerization for Photoactive Therapy
Graphical Abstract This work highlights a photoisomerizable zinc(II) complex (Zn1), which has a promising application prospect in photoactive therapy through photoisomerization. Zn1 can release its trans ligand after light irradiation, undergo photoisomerization to produce toxic cis product and generate 1O2 in the meantime. The series of changes lead to photo-triggered toxicity against cancer cells and cause microtubule breakdown.
An osmium-peroxo complex for photoactive therapy of hypoxic tumors - Nature Communications
Abstract The limited therapeutic effect on hypoxic and refractory solid tumors has hindered the practical application of photodynamic therapy. Herein, we report our investigation of an osmium-peroxo complex (Os2), which is inactive in the dark, but can release a peroxo ligand O2•− upon light irradiation even in the absence of oxygen, and is transformed into a cytotoxic osmium complex (Os1).
Microenvironment-sensitive iridium(III) complexes for diseases theranostics
Microenvironment-sensitive iridium(III) complexes for diseases theranostics Microenvironmental parameters, including hypoxia, pH, polarity, viscosity and temperature, play pivotal roles in controlling the biological physical or chemical behaviors of local molecules. Abnormal changes in these parameters would cause cellular malfunction or become a hallmark of the occurrence of severe diseases.

A viscosity-sensitive iridium(III) probe for lysosomal microviscosity quantification and blood viscosity detection in diabetic mice Pingyu Zhang, Haijie Chen, Huaiyi Huang, Kangqiang Qiu, Changxuan Zhang, Hui Chao and Qianling Zhang Abstract Abnormal levels of biological viscosity are closely associated with some diseases and malfunction (e.g. cancer, diabetes). Sensitive viscosity probes are of significant importance in disease diagnosis and remain an unmet need.
Nucleus‐Targeted Organoiridium-Albumin Conjugate for Photodynamic Cancer Therapy
Abstract An organoiridium–albumin bioconjugate (Ir1‐HSA) was synthesized by reaction of a pendant maleimide ligand with human serum albumin. The phosphorescence of Ir1‐HSA was enhanced significantly compared to parent complex Ir1. The long phosphorescence lifetime and high 1O2 quantum yield of Ir1‐HSA are highly favorable properties for photodynamic therapy.
Nucleus‐targeted organoiridium‐albumin conjugate for photoactivated cancer therapy
: A highly phosphorescent organoiridium‐albumin conjugate (Ir1‐HSA) was synthesized by reacting an organo‐iridium complex (Ir1) containing a pendant maleimide with human serum albumin. The phosphorescence of the Ir1‐HSA conjugate is much stronger than the parent iridium complex. Real‐time cellular imaging shows that the conjugate mainly accumulates in the nucleus of cancer cells.

Enhancing the photothermal stability and photothermal efficacy of AuNRs and AuNTs by grafting with Ru(II) complexes
Gold nanorods (AuNRs) and nanostars (AuNTs) were widely applied in photothermal cancer therapy recently. However, due to the photothermal effect, naked AuNRs and AuNTs easily melt into gold spheres. This drawback results in loss of the characteristic near-infrared (NIR) surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and limits their therapeutic applications.
Enhancing the photothermal stability and photothermal efficacy of gold nanorods and nanostars by grafted with ruthenium(II) complexes
Gold nanorods (AuNRs) and nanostars (AuNTs) were significantly applied in therapeutics in recent years. However the heat generated from the photothermal effect melts AuNRs and AuNTs into spheres, leading to the loss of their near-infrared (NIR) surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and thereby imposing limitations on their therapeutic applications.
Combatting AMR: photoactivatable ruthenium(II)-isoniazid complex exhibits rapid selective antimycobacterial activity
The novel photoactive ruthenium( ) complex cis-[Ru(bpy) (INH) ][PF ] (1·2PF , INH = isoniazid) was designed to incorporate the anti-tuberculosis drug, isoniazid, that could be released from the Ru( ) cage by photoactivation with visible light. In aqueous solution, 1 rapidly released two equivalents of isoniazid and formed the photoproduct cis-[Ru(bpy) (H O) ] upon irradiation with 465 nm blue light.
Flexible and Mechanically Robust Superhydrophobic Silicone Surfaces with Stable Cassie-Baxter State
Durable non-wetting surfaces require high surface roughness on the nano- or micrometer scale, which is inherently fragile and easily removed by an external force. Elastic materials have potential advantages for constructing superhydrophobic surfaces with abrasion resistance since after friction or force deformation they often rebound to their original structure rather than undergoing degradation.
Synthesis, characterization and biological evaluation of labile intercalative ruthenium(II) complexes for anticancer drug screening
