1 Introduction 17α-methyltestosterone (MT) is the prototype of a series of 17α-alkylated steroids developed to increase the oral bioavailability of anabolic androgenic steroids. It was first synthesized in 1935 [1] and introduced in clinical practice soon afterwards for medical conditions related to low levels of androgens [2].
