Interview

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes I have. It was for a film project I was working on. Unfortunately, I could not keep it.

How is social media changing news?

Social Media has allowed news to be instant, as well as to be easily accessed. Some of your best tips come from Twitter, after all.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

A journalist is someone who streamlines information in a prismatic space. To me, it constantly means to be in the pursuit of something new.

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?

It definitely has to be #Binod on the Indian Twitterverse.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Apart from social media platforms, I use video editing tools such as Final Cut X and Adobe's Premiere Pro.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

While I did not work for the newspaper, I did have a weekly show. The show was held live, and would keep students up-to-speed with news.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Anytime between 5 pm to 9 pm is when I am the most accessible.

What's your favorite drink?

My favourite drink has to be Bubble Tea. But there are days when I can trade it off with some Iced Americano.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

I will most likely be at a music store, checking out the latest releases while grooving to the beat.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

I love reading Coup de Main, Tokyo Weekender, Rolling Stone, NME, The Japan Times, Billboard, Kerrang, among many more.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

That one can only listen to music if it's in your language. In fact, it's something constantly breaks barriers -- be it culture or language.
