I am an accidental journalist -- and I am now into my 25th year of this "accident".
I dropped out of college, waited on table, played the drums, played the fool -- until it struck me that what I really wanted to do was read a lot. And maybe write a little.
One thing led to other things: A trainee job at daily newspaper the Indian Post that became a feature writer position once I found my sea-legs; Features Editor at city tabloid Mid-Day; Senior Editor at weekly broadsheet Sunday Observer.
Then I tripped over my curiosity and fell into the Internet as part of the startup team behind Rediff.com, India's first online news site. A segue by way of NYC as Editor of community paper India Abroad, and finally, here at Yahoo India as editor-in-chief.
That is one long accident. And I am not complaining.
