Post injection is a multiple-injection strategy that is commonly used as a particulate matter control measure to reduce soot emissions, yet the mechanisms and the interactions between the main and post injections are only vaguely understood. For this work, experiments were performed to assess the effects of varying dwell time between the main and post injections in a compression-ignition (CI) engine environment simulated using a constant-volume combustion chamber.
