Effects of step lengths on biomechanical characteristics of lower extremity during split squat movement
1 Introduction The optimal exercise selection for improving, maintaining, and enhancing functional capacities involves aligning the demands of an exercise with the specific needs of the client or patient (Flanagan et al., 2003; Wu et al., 2020). Using an exercise for training or evaluation requires a full understanding of the mechanical demands imposed on the musculoskeletal system.
Abnormal balance control mechanisms during dynamic reaching forward and quiet standing in patients with anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction
1 Introduction Stable posture control for quiet standing and movement is a fundamental motor function during daily activities. During convalescence following anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, patients performed imperfect motor function, such as postural instability, abnormal gait, and difficulty in sit-stand transfer (Clark et al., 2014; Difabio et al., 2018; Hoch et al., 2018). The balance control capacity is the foundation of various motor functions.
Understanding the form and function in Chinese bound foot from last-generation cases
Introduction The Chinese bound foot, which is not practised anymore, is a good example of an atypical foot form that demonstrates the form and function. The human foot has evolved and adapted in its shape and function due to remodelling to adapt to the environment (Ambrosi et al., 2019). The Chinese bound foot, also known as ‘foot binding,’ has its origins approximately between the late Tang dynasty (AD 618–907) and early Song dynasty (AD 960–1127) (Greenhalgh, 1977).

The Impact of Hoffmann Reflex on Standing Postural Control Complexity in the Elderly with Impaired Plantar Sensation
Abstract : In people with peripheral neuropathy (PN), impaired plantar sensation can cause adaptive changes in the central nervous system (CNS), resulting in changes in the standing postural control, which is reflected in the variability of standing output signals. Standard deviation (SD) and entropy are reliable indicators of system variability, especially since entropy is highly sensitive to diseased populations.
