What Proximity Detection For Contact Tracing Apps Is Going To Look Like In 2021.
Ok, so contact tracing apps are a real mess. Rather than writing any more about why this is the case, I’m going to write something a bit more positive - what the carnage we are wading through right now will mean for the designs of our smartphones, and our contact tracing needs in a year’s time. If vaccines are not effective, or if COVID-19 mutates as rapidly as its cousin the common cold, then we will still be socially-distancing in 2021, and we will still need contact tracing.
We Are Losing Sight Of What Contact Tracing Apps Are For
Three months ago I was asked to go on a radio show here in the UK and discuss the idea of using our smartphones to help with contact tracing. I was very positive about how easy it would be, and how important the idea was. I could never have predicted that by mid-June, contact tracing apps would be mired in the debacle that we find ourselves in: there are over 100 different contact tracing apps under development across the globe, and these are just the ones advertising themselves to the world.
Enabling the next generation of GPS technology with Supercorrelation
Enabling the next generation of GPS technology with Supercorrelation Focal Point Positioning have developed a new method for processing GNSS radio signals called Supercorrelation which dramatically improves the performance of the earliest stage of radio processing. Are Covid-19 contact apps data safe?
The NHS contact tracing app has arrived, and is causing controversy as it has (for now) departed from the tools the Apple and Google have developed to help with contact tracing. The reason is that help from this unusual tech-giant alliance is not coming without a price - Google and Apple are forcibly imposing restrictions, which the NHS and some governments do not wish to be limited by. Let’s dig into this more...
What Apple And Google Need To Do To Make Contact Tracing Trustworthy
Apple and Google have announced that they are partnering on a new set of APIs to allow contact tracing to be an embedded aspect of their operating systems, rather than relying on an app to perform contact tracing.
The Hidden Trade-Offs Inside Contact-Tracing Apps
The disruptions caused by Covid-19 have hit the global economy at an unprecedented scale and speed, it’s not surprising that technology is being sought to find a way out of lockdown, to restart economies, and to control the current outbreak. Contact tracing has emerged as a key strategy, in which any identified case of the disease is followed by rapid tracing of all people who may have come into contact with the newly-diagnosed person.
