I started writing when I was a kid—mostly stuff about dogs, cats, bugs, baseball, and my mom. But throughout my life and many years of diverse work experience and exploration, there has been one common theme: a fascination with storytelling. Shortly after graduating college with a degree in economics, I found myself pulled into the world of journalism and communications.
I was hooked, working up to 70 hours a week on the student paper and enjoying every minute. I traveled all over the country chasing stories, writing and editing at a fever pitch. I wrote about everything from sporting events to social causes.
I also discovered an affinity for technology and the dynamic texture that visual and multimedia formats bring to communications. Social media storytelling comes naturally to me; I’m passionate about constantly learning new tools and online platforms and using those resources to connect with and grow audiences.
Storytelling has never just been a job for me. I consider it a privilege to give voices to so many different people. This passion has allowed me to win press association awards in four states. I’m also a three-time top 3 sports column writer in North Carolina. I know how to coach and motivate writers and journalists to step outside of their comfort zone and tell engaging stories. My expertise in creative content development allows me to lead complex projects through dynamic, unpredictable shifts.
I’m ready to bring my 15 plus years of experience writing, editing, and producing high-quality content for diverse markets to tackle new challenges in digital storytelling. My ability to lead teams and manage projects to produce compelling, award-winning content will be an asset to your organization.
