Red Cabbage v Red Cabbage
Asked on 25 Jan 2024 by Red Cabbage Hi. I made Delia's red cabbage for a dinner party to come but the onion has given the dish a raw taste. I note other recipes fry the onion before putting all in a casserole. What should I do? Try balsamico and muscovado sugar? I added some more sugar and honey and prunes so far to try and help but the cabbage still has that pungent sharp taste. I used I regular onion and 1 red onion. 2 1/2 hours in oven. Oh dear! What a blow. Help please. You are here

Grown-Up Tuna Melts Recipe
This Grown-Up Tuna Melts recipe – with banana peppers, sourdough bread, provolone cheese, tomatoes and more – is my retro recipe makeover of the simple Tuna Melts that my Dad used to make us when I was a kid. I haven’t made tuna melts in years. Over 10 years, would be my best guess. But my son remembers them and he loved them. They weren’t fancy. It was the cheapest tuna, mixed with mayonnaise and pickle relish, spooned onto plain white bread, and topped with an American cheese slice.
Long Pasta with Bacon, Red Cabbage, Walnuts, and Rosemary
Flavor Tip: When purchasing nuts, buy them from a good shop with high turn-over. Store the unused portion, well sealed, in the freezer, to keep the nuts tasting fresh. When stored in the pantry, nuts, like nut oils, quickly turn rancid. In the spirit of making do with what you’ve got, this is a pasta dish comprised almost completely of basic winter ingredients. It is creamy and rich, so small portions are best. For variation, try it with 1 cup of Toasted Seasoned Bread Crumbs in place of the cheese.
