Reema Shah’s Biography

Throughout her career, Reema Shah has followed a path shaped by curiosity, discipline, and a steady desire to bridge thoughtful financial strategy with community-centered impact. Her work spans more than two decades across investing, advising, and social innovation, reflecting a consistent effort to support both organizational growth and meaningful social outcomes.

Reema’s introduction to the world of finance began at Stern Stewart & Co. in New York, where she evaluated companies across multiple industries using the EVA framework. This early role taught her how to examine performance with precision and gave her experience that would influence her decision-making for years to come. Her interest in understanding how companies operate and create value deepened as she moved into roles at Morgan Stanley and Fayez Sarofim & Co. There, she expanded her skills in company valuation, market analysis, and senior-executive engagement.

After earning her MBA from the Kellogg School of Management in 2000, Reema joined Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette as an equity research analyst. In that position, she conducted detailed research, provided investment recommendations, and strengthened her approach to analyzing public companies. It was a period that continued to reinforce her reliance on careful data review and steady judgment.

Reema later took on a significant leadership role at JWS Technology Funds, becoming a managing director and partner. Starting as an analyst, she eventually co-managed a multi-billion-dollar technology-focused mutual fund. She also invested in software and consumer companies for the firm’s hedge fund, which expanded its assets from $10 million to more than $1 billion during her time there. Her work at JWS demonstrated her ability to navigate fast-changing markets and identify value in volatile sectors. Yet even as she advanced in the financial world, she increasingly felt drawn to opportunities that connected innovation with social good.

In 2010, that interest took shape when she co-founded Foundze, Inc., an online platform designed to help educators and parents discover top-rated educational apps for children. The venture highlighted her growing commitment to mission-oriented projects. Her focus on impact continued during her service as an advisor at the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley from 2014 to 2017, where she helped launch the Social Impact Collective in 2016. The initiative guided professionals interested in philanthropy and impact investing, showing how structured learning could support meaningful change.

Reema’s dedication to mission-driven work also led her to Golden Seeds in Silicon Valley, where she served as managing director. She helped lead investment rounds and build partnerships that connected women-led, high-growth companies with potential investors. At Stanford University’s Center for Social Innovation, she advised student teams in the StartUp Garage, providing hands-on support as they explored ventures focused on real-world problems.

In the years that followed, Reema continued to work at the intersection of finance and civic engagement. As an investor with ARA Family LLC, she oversaw a diverse mix of public companies and multi-asset funds. She also supported small business owners through her work with The Acceleration Project (TAP), where she served as a consultant and Chairperson of the West Coast Advisory Board.

Her commitment to service extends beyond her professional work. Reema has volunteered with organizations including Peninsula Bridge, the Ravenswood Foundation, Sacred Heart Schools (Atherton), and the University of Pennsylvania. She has also given her time to the San Francisco Food Bank and There With Care. Her board and advisory roles at the Menlo School and the Netter Center at the University of Pennsylvania reflect her dedication to linking education and civic involvement.

Reema supports philanthropic initiatives centered on access, mentorship, and enrichment for students and families. These efforts mirror her long-standing interest in equitable growth and measurable impact. When she is not working or volunteering, she enjoys hiking, cooking, playing pickleball, and exploring her interests in the arts, fashion, and technology.

Across her varied roles, Reema Shah has shown that disciplined financial insight and community commitment can reinforce one another. Her work continues to highlight the value of combining thoughtful strategy with a genuine interest in helping others thrive.
