Hi there,
My name is Mary Catherine and I have been working in tv/multimedia production for 6 years and in print journalism for 9 years.
To give you a bit of background information, I'm a dual Irish-American citizen from New York City, and thus far, my reporting has brought me to cities all across the US, Canada, and Europe. I returned to NYC after living for 3 years in Dublin, Ireland, last year, to work on a pilot at CNN.
Following CNN, I began writing and video-blogging for Toyota Motor Company, covering its Meals Per Hour program to support Hurricane Sandy victims. Most recently, I worked as an Associate Producer for a documentary tv program at HBO, hosted by Emmy-winning Producer Alexandra Pelosi. I will finish working on that program this week.
Before I moved to Ireland, I worked on several internationally broadcast documentaries for networks including CBS, PBS, the Independent Film Channel(IFC),and MyLifetime.com. I have a BA from Harvard in English Literature and Language and an MS in Broadcast Journalism from Columbia University School of Journalism.
During my 3 years in Ireland, I sharpened my production skills as a freelance videographer/journalist. I produced multimedia stories and wrote blogs, for news websites including RTE.ie, Storyful.com, IrishCentral.com and various other clients. I also worked as an AP/Researcher for Lauren Greenfield, award winning documentary producer of "Thin" and "Queen of Versailles."
For Storyful.com, I produced a 20-minute documentary, "Through Roma Eyes", about the reality of life for Hungary's Roma population, amidst ineffective anti-discrimination efforts by politicians, and the growing popularity of right wing anti-Roma groups.
I was the Producer, Videographer and Editor for a web-series called Punk Economics, spearheaded by Ireland's most influential economist, David McWilliams. The series has cumulatively received roughly 800,000 hits on youtube.
In late 2012, I released my first independent documentary film, "A Mighty Man: The Father Gerry Roche Story", which is about an Irish missionary priest who was murdered in Kenya in 2009. I also co-produced a documentary film about Knockanstockan Independent Music Festival, in 2011.
For two years, I taught BA and MA journalism students at Independent College Dublin, and prior to that, I was an Adjunct Professor for two semesters on a course called "Covering Religion" at Columbia University School of Journalism.
I've pasted links to samples of my work and attached my resume, below.
Please feel free to contact me anytime via email, or phone: 347 908 1879.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Best,
Mary Catherine
