Throughout my childhood, my mother could never keep me from picking up every travel brochure I came across... and nothing has changed in the years since. From reading travel guidebooks to writing them was an easy step, and I currently have three guidebooks in print from Countryman Press, an imprint of W.W. Norton, including 300+ page guides to North Carolina's Outer Banks, Myrtle Beach, and Virginia Beach and the Tidewater. Along the way, I wrote city guidebooks for hotel guests in Charlotte and Greensboro, NC, guides to shore excursions in Alaska and the Caribbean, and served as travel editor at North Carolina Magazine and as contributing editor at several city magazines in Charlotte. My journeys have taken me to Alaska, Mexico, and Canada, as well as all 50 states and several foreign countries, where I had the opportunity to camp among - and talk story with - the locals. Having spent the best part of the 1990s full-timing in an RV, my great passion is exploring the country and I will soon be on the road again, driving my vintage Rialta. This time, I'll be making use of the new upgrades in technology to keep friends and followers updated on my discoveries. No more dial-up!
