Interview

Have you ever used a typewriter?

In the mid-eighties, yes. And electronic one. The first of its kind.

How is social media changing news?

Social media, combined with AI, are obliging journalists and their readers to always double-check what is out there.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Microsoft Word and other word processor. The notes application on my telephone. That's about it, really.

Who do you wish followed you?

People who are interested in poetry, and in understanding how the world works, not how we're told it should work

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Read. Read. Read. I'd offer the same to aspiring poets.

What's your favorite drink?

Single-malt whiskey and cold water from the fridge, but not together. At separate moments.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

At the library reading or writing or borrowing books and DVDs or returning them.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

I'm extremely practical and fact-based, which does not mean that I lack spirituality. Quite the contrary.
