Rex Siu’s Biography

Rex Siu has recently been the Assistant Chief of Staff at ABC News in NSW newsroom in Sydney. He is completing a Bachelor of Communication in Journalism at the University of Technology Sydney. Rex has been a digital journalist and editor at Central News, the award-winning news publication and website at UTS Journalism, where he covers politics, international, breaking news and runs multimedia, podcasts, and other projects. He is now establishing the first student-led journalism awards at Central News/UTS.

Rex was a Research Assistant at the UTS Centre for Media Transition (CMT) studying the implications of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) for public-interest journalism during May - Aug 2023. He joined CMT as an intern and assisted with an Information Disorder research project in 2022.

Rex is a journalist, creator and researcher.
