Our Finished Product: Two from Galilee
“All we ever wanted is found in You.” The entire ensemble sang this closing line in the dramatic musical Two from Galilee, with script by Karla Worley and musical numbers from Robert Sterling. The finale included Mary and Joseph center stage, holding baby Jesus, with the entire cast worshiping the Christ child. The room went dark, and a light appeared, illuminating the holy family with the shape of a cross.
Wilson column: Why Donald Trump and red wave blanketed USA
Sometimes I realize the event I’m standing in looms much larger than just my corner of the world. Such was my feeling after witnessing Donald Trump decisively win the presidency of the United States. Millions of Americans realized the dismal spiral our country was on the past four years. What we experienced into the early hours of last Wednesday morning was a loud repudiation of the leftist elites and their terrible and harmful ideas the past four-plus years. kAm$:IE66? Make some Easter memories with your family
Holidays, particularly religious ones (the word holidays is derived from the words holy days), carry with them a lot of memories that invoke various emotional responses. Easter reminds me of decorating Easter eggs with my mother using the PAAS egg dye kit. I remember seeing my grandparents every Easter, usually at their house. We enjoyed egg hunts and Easter baskets. I have very fond church memories from various Easters.
Largest SBC gathering in 25 years spurred by first-time messengers, geographical proximity to Nashville
NASHVILLE (BP) – Last week’s 2021 SBC Annual Meeting was the largest since 1995, and much of that had to do with the location and the involvement of first-time messengers to the convention. A survey conducted of those in attendance showed that nearly 80 percent of messengers drove to the June 15-16 meeting in Nashville.
Worship sets the tone at SBC meeting
NASHVILLE (BP) – On June 15-16, the Southern Baptist Convention gathered for business proceedings and voting sessions. But before the meetings could begin, attendees refocused their hearts on a greater purpose, Jesus Christ, through a time of worship. The SBC annual meeting is about more than business. Messengers come to worship too.
FIRST-PERSON: Theological liberalism in the SBC?
LANCASTER, S.C. (BP) – I attended a liberal religious college. Though a fourth-generation Southern Baptist and grandson of a Southern Baptist pastor, a scholarship and my best friend convinced me to go to a school associated with the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America [PC(USA)]. The previous summer, at a Jericho Missions Conference at Glorieta Conference Center, I sensed a calling to pursue vocational ministry, and I entered my collegiate studies with that intent.
Faith Conversation: The Weight of Worry
As a couple, discuss the book of 1 Peter. Read each chapter together or individually, then focus your conversation on the passages below and discuss the questions that follow. “[Cast] all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7 What causes you stress today? Name one way I’ve helped you feel less stressed in the past. How can we help each other trust God more with stressful things? Anxiety dampens the spirit; worries weigh us down.
