Riad Beladi’s Biography
I am Riad Beladi, an international retail analyst, editor and founder of International Supermarket News, a specialist publication covering supermarkets, food retail, FMCG and retail technology.
I have spent more than three decades working around the international supermarket and retail industry, combining specialist journalism, market analysis, international marketing and communication between suppliers and retailers.
Through International Supermarket News, I report on the issues shaping modern grocery retail, including supermarket strategy, pricing, private label, consumer behaviour, food supply, retail technology, artificial intelligence and the changing relationship between retailers and suppliers.
My work has also involved helping international food producers, brands and organisations develop relationships with supermarket buyers and retailers, particularly in European markets.
Over the years I have interviewed senior figures from major international retailers and organisations, including executives connected with Tesco, Carrefour and other leading supermarket groups, as well as buyers and specialists in food, fresh produce and retail technology.
I am particularly interested in the commercial realities behind supermarket retail: how retailers choose products, how suppliers reach buyers, how consumers respond to price and value, and how technology is changing the way supermarkets operate.
I am also a co-founder of the Oxford International Supplier Academy, an initiative developed to help suppliers understand how major supermarket groups operate and how to communicate more effectively with retail buyers.
