What was your first job as a journalist?
I worked for my high school newspaper.

Most people get their news FROM social media, which makes newsgathering quicker.

Communicating with the people.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?
I use my laptop, Microsoft Word, and Pixlr. That's about it.

Why did you become a journalist?
I like to rant all the time, and I find that people like to sometimes read my rants and rant back to me. I enjoy that conversation.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Yes, and the college paper, too. I wrote entertainment pieces.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I once wrote a piece on parkour for the Chicago Reader before the sport blew up.

Somebody read an obscure article of mine thoroughly and said they enjoyed my writing style, which is why they decided to pitch me.

Not sure. Haven't really gotten any bad pitches.

Orangina.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Playing with my kids.
