Battlefield 6, review, PS5
11 Views Battlefield, BF6, DICE, EA, First Person, Shooter After that Battlefield 6 reveal that took a few people by surprise a couple of months ago, hotly followed by the Beta weekends and an oh-so-short run up to release, here we are. It may have been a short wait, but it’s been an anxious one, could DICE bring us back to the frontline?
Everspace 2 Launch Trailer
25 Views Everspace 2, Sci Fi RPG, Space Dogfight, Trailer Here’s the latest trailer for Everspace 2 launch, the game hits the street on consoles this week. If you haven’t read our PC or PS5 reviews yet, give them a go. Fair to say both Gerard and Barrie had a great time with the game, especially as a warm up to incoming 2023 sci-fi titles. With the long awaited Everspace 2 launch on consoles this labour of love can be shared fully, and to quote the Rockfish CEO Michael Schade.
JBL Quantum 910 Wireless
The JBL Range continues to impress with the Quantum 910 Wireless. Having swapped out my 810 Wireless Headset for the much new and improved Quantum 910 Wireless Headset I find it hard to go back. It’s not even a year since I wrote about the 810 Wireless, and everything I said then still stands today for the 910 Wireless. Albeit with a few extra Bells, Whistles and Quality. JBL and Harman are Masters of improving their products.
Replikator, review
Replikator had me at “Top Down Sci-Fi Shooter”. I mean what’s not to love, being a huge Alienation fan and having grown up on the likes of Alien Syndrome, and Alien Breed. Choose a rag-tag character from a bunch of rag-tag characters, including a Space Racoon. Board some crusty Space Stations and fight your way to the Boss. Yes, we’ve been here before. Cue launching from your base after talking to some random static characters.
Advance Wars 1+2 : Re-Boot Camp
Advance Wars is a poster-child franchise for Nintendo. After tough turn-based campaigns on Gameboy Advance, it’s rebuilt now for the Switch. There is no mistaking the franchise has the Hearts and Minds of older gamers. So now would be a good time to get it into the hands of today’s Nintendo faithful. Wouldn’t it? Back when Advance Wars was popular At the time there weren’t a lot of turn based strategy games that were accessible and fun.
Dead Island 2 Review
Dead Island 2 doesn’t mess about, a long awaited sequel to the fondly dismembered Dead Island. This time round you get to choose from a bunch of keen zombie slayers and make your way through the cluttered alleyways and luxury houses of L.A. Once you’ve picked your Slayer du jour, depending on their style and skill tree…it’s clobbering time! For reasons unknown I went with wise-cracking Irish lass Nina, she takes no prisoners and swings a mean hammer.
Startup Company, PS5
Startup Company Console Edition brings a successful business sim to consoles after a strong outing on Steam. Danish devlopers Hovgaard Games have obviously laboured over this title with love. Starting from the ground level with minimal investment, the aim is to manage your business empire “to the moon”. Interestingly the simulation is heavily geared towards the Social Media / Online Sales platforms we are familiar with. On paper this game should be right up my alley, should be.
getting by without extra lives...
Byte Size When 300 words is more than enough Byte Size Review Gaming Nintendo Switch Console Video Content Zombie Army Trilogy, Switch Review Zombie Army Trilogy on Switch, comes hot on the heels of last month’s spectacular Zombie Army 4. That’s a big pair of Jackboots to fill. To be fair the Switch port does a good job and is a well rounded package, but really showing its age. The muted colours and old textures don’t do much to upgrade the experience.
Happy New 2020 and putting a pin in 2019
The rest of the team have had their turn. It is interesting to see that we have all been touched by different games over the last 12 months. The standout for Guy being Control, although we do agree on Blood and Truth being a landmark title for PSVR. Whereas Barrie loved Outer Worlds, I tried it, but wasn’t in the right space. Maybe I need to give it another spin now the fuss has died down. Gerard plumped for Plague Tale, which is title I have seen often recommended, but never looked close enough.
2019 - How did it stack up? (The Gerard Edition)
Feature Article Gaming PC / Mac PS4 Switch Console Xbox One January 16, 2020January 16, 2020 Richard Armitt 2019, best games, Gerard, highlights, retrospective I realised that I didn’t play that many games this year, which is kind of sad. Here’s to a better 2020 (and Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4 Pro, thanks to my kids pre-ordering it for me for my birthday). These are the most notable highlights.
Xbox - Lynx - koru-cottage.com
Byte Size Review XBLA Xbox One xbox360 July 21, 2019 Richard Armitt Grooming, Influencer, Lynx, Smelly, XBOX I’m not sure how it came about, probably one marketing person talking to another, maybe they wanted to do something about influencers smelling of Bullshit, maybe it was because Gamers alledgely smell of teenage stockpiles stashed under their beds.
LEGO, James Bond Aston Martin DB5
It’s a little talked of fact, but LEGO gets more sexy the older you get. As a small boy I enjoyed my LEGO spaceship (which seemed to be enormous), as an adult I can appreciate the set’s wonderful design, joy to build and marvel at how compact and bijou it actually was… That was me a long time ago, in a galaxy far away, here I am in my late, very late forties loving LEGO and getting all excited about wonderfully crafted city blocks, Ghostbusters Headquarters and Millennium Falcons.
Strange Brigade, PS4 Review
Remember the days of Saturday Morning Matinee? Probably not, especially if like me you were one of the generations that followed behind and got to learn about the likes of Flash Gordon or Zorro in twenty five minutes bites of black and white drama. They were shows from a simpler time, a time when youngsters would cram into the movie theatre on a Saturday and watch the latest instalment of a their latest hero. There would be drama, action, spills and cliffhangers.
