Bad faith makes for good movies: Exploring the Morally Offensive Podcast
While Milwaukee sleeps, three local podcast hosts are doing some unholy work on the airwaves. The Morally Offensive Podcast, which launched on Halloween 2024, claims to be a bi-weekly film podcast fueled by the trauma of Catholic guilt and shame. But it’s much, much more than just that. Like many Milwaukee stories, Morally Offensive began in a local tavern. The founders – Bill Holland and Cisco Scartozzi – had just walked out of a mainstream movie screening at the Oriental Theatre.

If you missed an episode or want to binge away at all of 'em, here is our first seven.

The Admirals have had an exciting regular season. They set a team record with a 19-game win streak in January and February – the second longest in AHL history. They saw a large increase in attendance this year, averaging more than 6,000 fans per game including three 9,500-person sellouts. Khalif El-Amin is on a mission to empower young people in Milwaukee to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams. To carry this out, El-Amin, cofounder of the Young Enterprising Society, or YES, has launched a new podcast, “Leef with the Legends,” featuring interviews with local and national legends from the worlds of sports, entertainment and business. YES is a group that helps young entrepreneurs launch and grow businesses.
Nate Vomhof: Behind the drone that makes Milwaukee shine
The other week, Milwaukee Uncut had Nate Vomhof, aka Drone Nate, on the podcast. While you may not be familiar with the name, chances are you’ve seen some of his incredible drone footage of Milwaukee. Nate’s story is unique because he didn’t aspire to be a drone videographer/photographer. In fact, he went to UWM to study engineering but only attended for a semester before dropping out. After working at Walgreens for some time, he decided to become a pharmacist and enrolled in pharmacy school.
As Marquette heads to the Sweet Sixteen, a chat with Kam Jones & Stevie Mitchell
Before taking down Western Kentucky and Colorado to advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2013, Marquette’s Stevie Mitchell and Kam Jones stopped by the studio for an episode of Milwaukee Uncut. Before heading into the game against Western Kentucky, I asked the guys if it was difficult to stay in the moment with a potential big run ahead, and if they felt extra pressure from Marquette’s rabid fan base after a disappointing early exit as a 2-seed last year.
10 years after its disappearance, podcast answers the mystery of MH370
Today marks the 10th anniversary of aviation’s greatest mystery: the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370. While the plane vanished from radar just outside Malaysian airspace on March 8, 2014, in the United States, the time difference means today is the day. For six months, I’ve published a weekly podcast with my co-host, OnMilwaukee President and founder Andy Tarnoff. We’re on our 25th episode now, and on this somber occasion, we have some important new evidence to share with you.
Ian Bennett on life on and off the field with the Milwaukee Wave
When it comes to the MASL and the Milwaukee Wave, Ian Bennett is a certified legend. He’s a two-time MASL MVP and three-time champion with the Milwaukee Wave – and he's also still performing at a high level this season at the age of 40. That said, there is a lot more to Ian Bennett than what you see on the field. The guy is a father of two daughters, has more energy than just about anyone I’ve ever met, and his authentic unfiltered nature made for a great and highly entertaining podcast.
The evolution of MKE native Grace Weber - from Oprah, a Grammy and now a new album
Grace Weber's rise in the music industry has been an amazing ride – from her surprise appearance on "Oprah" in college, to collaborating with Chance the Rapper and winning a Grammy with him and Kanye, to signing with (and parting ways with) Capitol Records. And now, with the release of her new album "Paper Flower," Grace Weber continues to evolve and make waves in the industry. We cover it all on this episode of Milwaukee Uncut that you won’t want to miss.
Milwaukee Uncut: David Crowleyâs rise from the 53206 Original
From growing up in 53206, the nation’s most incarcerated zip code to becoming the first Black elected Milwaukee County Executive, and the youngest, at age 33, David Crowley has an amazing story. The episode begins with David sharing his personal story and upbringing in the city of Milwaukee.
Milverine Uncut: Beyond the streets with Milwaukee's superhero
One day in 2010, John Frank Hamann was approached by a stranger at Veterans Park who excitedly came running up to him with his cell phone. "You’re the Milverine!" the man said. Hamann was a combination of confused and amused. However, "Milverine" had a pretty nice ring. The jacked, power-walking construction worker had no idea that he had a dedicated Facebook page and Reddit thread where people tracked sightings of his whereabouts around the city.
Bishop Hines was briefly pronounced dead in the '80s; he's inspired millions ever since
In this episode, we hear the transformative story behind Bishop Darrell Hines, a man who has experienced extraordinary events in his life. From being pronounced dead for 45 minutes, to finding love in the unlikeliest of places, to going on to speak all over the world, to founding a church and a community center on Milwaukee’s North Side, his journey is filled with moments that you won’t believe.
From "nope" to "ope": How Charlie Berens made it big
Charlie Berens is currently on tour, selling out venues across the country from Las Vegas to New York. He has millions of followers across social media channels, has major deals with the most iconic brands in the state and is beloved as our favorite Midwesterner. What if I told you that, if he hadn't hesitantly posted one video back in 2017 at age 30, none of this likely would have happened?
New podcast dives into why MH370 still haunts us
It’s been called the greatest aviation mystery of all time, and starting today, a new podcast that I’m launching along with OnMilwaukee’s Andy Tarnoff, will dive right into it. In the early morning hours of March 8, 2014, an airliner vanished from Air Traffic Control screens over the South China Sea. Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 and its 239 passengers and crew were never seen again.

Mayor Cavalier Johnson talks fighting crime, the upcoming RNC and his journey
Mayor Cavalier Johnson has been busy since becoming Milwaukee’s first elected Black mayor back in April of 2022. He inherited a city with a number of issues: a stagnant population, an increase in crime (including the rise of the Kia Boys) and a long history of segregation, to name a few. So, how did the 36-year-old (35 at the time of his election) become mayor?

Mike Lovell talks transforming health and wellness on campus and in his own life
Mental health has become quite the topic of conversation as of late. One might argue that more people are talking about their mental health, while others would say that more people are affected by mental health illnesses. Mike Lovell, president of Marquette University, believes it could actually be a bit of both. In today's episode of The GoGedders Podcast, Richie Burke sits down with Mike Lovell to discuss Marquette's ten million dollar giving challenge to transform health and wellness.
Evoking change within the MKE community with Johnson Financial Group's Jim Popp

When listening to Jim Popp speak about the Milwaukee community, it is clear that his love for the city runs deep.
Chatting football, beer and business with Craig Nall and Sean Cullen
If you are a fan of football, business and innovative ways to drink a couple beers, we have quite the show for you this week. I had the honor of being joined by Sean Cullen, former Sun Bowl champion and current Director of Business Development at JP Cullen, as well as Packers quarterback Craig Nall who backed up Brett Favre and was there during Aaron Rodgers’ first year with the team. For an episode of this magnitude, I even brought in two co-hosts: Joe Stanton and Captain Patrick Lubar.
Set up for success: How Forward 48 connects the next generation of MKE leaders
Learning from your own mistakes is a tough but necessary part of personal growth. Whether it’s in business or your personal life, recognizing when you've made a mistake and course-correcting for next time a situation arises is a critical part of continuous improvement. But sometimes, it’s just not that simple. We can be blind to our own mistakes and weaknesses, and those in leadership roles are no different.
#BucksInSix: A look back on our favorite Bucks podcasts
As a lifelong Bucks fan, what happened on Tuesday night was completely unfathomable a few years ago. The Bucks – a franchise that typically didn’t even sell out their playoff games in the 2010s – nevertheless had 65,000 people standing in a crowd outside of the arena to watch the game and 17,000 people inside who paid a minimum of $1,000 (the price of a standing room only ticket). It was a special moment in an era where the NBA has been dominated by big market teams and star player mobility.
Local CBD entrepreneur exits for $20.6 million: The backstory
Josh Delaney made local and national news lately by selling 80 percent of his company, FAB Nutrition to High Tide Inc, for $20.6 million. Josh started FAB Nutrition only three years ago, and the fact that he just cashed out for over $20 million at age 35 is rare. It’s the largest exit I personally know of by a young(ish) Milwaukee entrepreneur. That said, it is far from an overnight success story.
From popsicles in Dixie cups to a favorite MKE brand: The story of Pete's Pops
Pete’s Pops has been all over the news – and Milwaukee-area streets – this year. With the announcement of Sneaky Pete’s recently opening at the Milwaukee Public Market, their four brick-and-mortar locations as well as ten pop carts roaming around the area and their expansion last year to St. Louis (owner Pete Cooney’s hometown) last year, it’s clear that business has never been hotter – or, erm, chillier – for this Milwaukee-favorite pop shop.
How a local entrepreneur is disrupting the politics industry & election process
With polarizing messages coming from the left and the right as well as a very low approval rating of our Congress, it is hard not to feel the divide in our country that's been lingering for a while now. There is a reason for this divide that I wasn’t aware of, but luckily for me (and you), we had an amazing guest on the show who explained it all super clearly and effectively – as well as a solution that is already being implemented to solve it.
Local exec battling cancer makes progress, talks making the most of each day
Rich Tennessen is a father, he’s the president of one of the largest architecture firms in the state (EUA), he’s very involved in the community, and as of about seven months ago, he is living with an incurable form of cancer. Like clockwork every Wednesday morning, as he went through chemo and a three-week hospital stay where he underwent CAR T Cell therapy, Rich would fire off group texts that I was fortunate enough to be a part of. They featured a message from Rich as well as a song of the day.
Why two Silicon Valley tech leaders opened offices in Milwaukee
Milwaukee has traditionally lagged behind in startup activity, but that tide seems to be turning recently thanks to initiatives like the MKE Tech Hub, growing incubators like Gener8tor, move venture funding from local corporations and people like our two guests: Glenn Reid and David Reeves, both leaders in Silicon Valley who recently moved to or opened an office in Milwaukee.
Glenn Reid's crazy journey through Silicon Valley and his new MKE venture
If you were looking for a job in the tech industry, you would probably look out west to Silicon Valley, right? What if I told you that there are big opportunities coming to the Midwest, including in our great city of Milwaukee? We had Glenn Reid on The GoGedders Podcast. Glenn got his start during Silicon Valley’s Golden Era when many of the tech giants that we all know today were just taking their first steps.
Dandelions podcast: Blended families (like The Brady Bunch)
The Brady Bunch made family blending look easy, but those of us who've done it know that it isn't. In this episode Julie and I chat with guest Liz Harwood about blending families and everything that goes along with it, from unconditional love to jealousy to sometimes even estrangement. Give it a listen here: "Dandelions: A Podcast for Women," hosted by Molly Snyder and Julie Davidson, drops monthly and is available on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Stitcher and TuneIn/Alexa.
Your questions about cryptocurrency, answered
Have you been following crypto? It is hard to not hear about the highly volatile industry that has been dominating news headlines. With Dogecoin and Bitcoin’s plummet following remarks made by Elon Musk on "SNL" earlier this month and the whole industry crashing – or correcting – last week, then bouncing back a bit this week, it is apparent that these currencies have very unstable values. But does that make these risky assets to invest in?

In this episode of "Dandelions: A Podcast for Women," Julie and I chat with two women, Katie Rose and Amy Scales, who are neighbors in the heart of the city, but spend much of their lives working on a farm, incorporating the fruits of a farm into their work and life, and / or reminiscing about growing up on a farm.

How will Biden's new tax plan affect you?
Here in the U.S., we have a tax code that is thousands of pages long and can be very overwhelming. Right now, with Biden’s new pending tax plan, there is a lot of uncertainty regarding corporate tax rates, capital gains tax, gift, income and estate tax. How will this affect different income brackets of the population? Biden has been making strides on repealing many of the tax reductions passed by former President Donald Trump in 2017.
Local AAPI community leaders speak out
There has always been a problem with racism and othering toward the Asian-American community here in the United States, but there has been a massive uptick in the number of incidents involving hate crimes and attacks since the start of COVID. In fact, hate crimes towards our AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islanders) community are up 150 percent in the 16 largest U.S. cities since the start of the pandemic, not including many that go unreported. How did we get to this point?

How a local restaurateur's frozen pizza captured national attention
“Bro, you’re up!” “What?” “Your review is up!” Cameron Whyte was drinking a glass of wine with his girlfriend one night when he got the text from his friend, Jonathan Newby. Whyte is a local restaurateur – the owner of Merriment Social, Third Coast Provisions and, his latest venture, FlourChild Pizza – who made some major pivots in the past year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. One of those pivots was to start selling pop-up pizzas from their restaurant for customers to take home.
Buy, sell or wait for a correction: What's going on in the MKE housing market?
What’s going on in the housing market? If you’ve been looking at real estate, or if you’ve put your house on the market lately, you’ve probably noticed that things are moving much quicker than they usually do. There have been stories of homes that go up at 8 a.m. and are already contingent on an offer by noon.

How Reddit disrupted the market and where we go from here
If you’ve been following the news the past few weeks, you’ve most likely seen GameStop making headlines – and it isn’t about their stores closing nor do they have the new Xbox or PS5 in stock. GameStop, as well as some other companies like AMC and Koss, experienced a surge in their stock prices. For those of you who aren’t familiar with GameStop, they are a small retailer that is often found in malls around the country.
Milwaukee exec battling cancer chooses positivity and shares lessons learned
While working at home after getting blood work done the week after Thanksgiving, Rich Tennessen was feeling tired and took an uncharacteristic nap on his basement floor at 4:30 p.m. Forty-five minutes later, he woke up to his phone ringing. It was his doctor with an unsettling request, “You need to go to the hospital right now for a transfusion.” The next day Rich was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, followed by the word cancer.
How to get mentally and physically fit for 2021 with Justine Sloan & Ambrose WB
Did you know that 80% of New Year's resolutions fail by February and 95% of diet programs fail no matter what time of the year you start? 2020 was a tough year for many of us, and 2021 brings a fresh start with new goals and expectations.
Dry January and my love/hate relationship with alcohol
Like many of you reading this, I have a love/hate relationship with alcohol. Toward the end of my sophomore year in high school, my best friend and I went to his brother’s house at UW-Madison. He and his roommates lined up shots for us and, not knowing what to do, I started tentatively sipping whiskey out of a shot glass. I instantly spat it out, shocked by how bad this “magical” substance called alcohol tasted. They had a field day with this and couldn’t stop laughing (rightfully so).

As we head into a new year, many of us are wondering what to expect from the financial market in 2021. Are we due for a bounce back? What industries will do well in this "new," post-COVID world?
