Rick Blosser’s Biography

A Journey of Professional Excellence and Personal Resilience

Richard “Rick” Blosser has spent over 30 years forging a distinguished career in finance while staying true to the values of integrity, hard work, and empathy. Rick’s personal and professional journey is one of ambition, growth, and giving back. From his early days on Wall Street to founding his own independent firm, his story reflects a commitment to excellence and an authentic desire to help others succeed.

Rick’s path began with a strong educational foundation. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Princeton University in 1986, where he also played varsity football and learned the importance of teamwork and discipline. Shortly after college, at just 23 years old, Rick faced and overcame a life-threatening battle with cancer – an experience that profoundly shaped his outlook on life and instilled in him a deep sense of purpose. He went on to obtain his MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management in 1992, preparing to make his mark in the financial world with both knowledge and grit.

Rick launched his investment career at Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management in 1992 as part of an elite group of advisors. Over 16 years at Morgan Stanley in Los Angeles, he built a substantial practice and developed expertise in serving high-net-worth families, family offices, and foundations. His dedication and skill earned him recognition early on – during this time, Barron’s magazine named Rick Blosser among the top financial advisors in the country. In 2008, amid the global financial crisis, Rick made a bold move to keep putting clients first: he transitioned his team and clients to UBS Private Wealth Management, where he served as Managing Director. There, from 2008 to 2015, he continued to expand his team and provide holistic family office services for some of the firm’s wealthiest clients, emphasizing stability and trust during turbulent times.

In 2015, Rick took on a new challenge at Wells Fargo Advisors, joining as Managing Director to help build a specialized group for ultra-high-net-worth clients. He was instrumental in developing that division and successfully guided his clients through a changing financial landscape. However, as the industry evolved, Rick recognized that he could best serve his clients by offering truly independent, unbiased advice. In October 2019, driven by his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to integrity, Rick Blosser decided to go independent. He founded Pathfinder Wealth Advisors, a fully independent Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) and multi-family office. As Pathfinder’s Managing Partner, Rick and his team act as fiduciaries for their clients – delivering best-in-class resources, objective investment strategies, and personalized wealth planning. This step fulfilled Rick’s long-held vision: to provide advice that is wholly aligned with his clients’ interests, free from big-bank limitations.

Throughout his career, Rick Blosser has been more than a successful financial advisor; he has been a mentor and thought leader in the industry. He is an active alumnus of both UCLA and Princeton, often engaging with students and young professionals. His peers and the press have recognized his leadership and expertise: publications such as Forbes and the Financial Times have ranked Rick among the top wealth advisors nationwide, citing his innovative approach and consistent results. Yet, Rick remains humble and focused on continuous learning, always seeking clarity and wisdom to share with others.

On a personal level, Rick’s life journey has reinforced the importance of family, health, and community. Having beaten cancer in his twenties, Rick carries a profound appreciation for each day and a desire to make a difference. He and his wife, Pam, split their time between California and Montana, cherishing time with their four children – Caitlin, Kelsey, Robbie, and Molly – and two young grandsons. An avid golfer and outdoorsman, Rick enjoys skiing and fly-fishing in Montana, where he finds balance and inspiration in nature.

Importantly, Rick Blosser’s personal challenges fueled his passion for philanthropy. Grateful for the support he received during his cancer battle, he has devoted significant time to helping others facing similar trials. Rick has served on the boards of and volunteered with several cancer research and support organizations, including the Susan G. Komen Foundation and cancer initiatives at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. These experiences strengthened his belief in compassion, resilience, and community service. They also inspired him to pay it forward in a very direct way – by empowering students and future leaders through scholarships and grants that bear his name. Rick’s commitment to “giving back” is not just a phrase, but a cornerstone of his life. He firmly believes that true leadership is demonstrated through service to others and that education is one of the most powerful tools to uplift individuals and communities.

Today, Rick Blosser continues to build on his legacy as both a financial expert and a humanitarian. Whether he is advising a family on preserving generational wealth, writing about lessons learned in business and life, or funding a scholarship for a deserving student, Rick approaches each endeavor with authenticity, wisdom, and heart. His journey – marked by professional achievement, personal perseverance, and purposeful generosity – serves as an inspiration to colleagues, clients, and anyone striving to make a positive impact in the world.
