Gothic pop trio Gina Gory embraces Pittsburgh DIY
Night falls on the first freezing February night of 2023 in Pittsburgh. The Venia, a now-retired house venue in Friendship, comes to life as friends and strangers shuffle in through the back door into the unfinished basement. The smell of bodies crammed together underneath the overhead wires mingles with cigarette smoke as the door opens and closes with the passage of visitors.

What gives weed its unique aroma? (Hint: it's not just terpenes)
The smell of cannabis is often attributed to its unique terpenes — the aromatic compounds produced by the plant — but they're not the whole story behind cannabis aromas. This becomes apparent when you smell two separate strains. For example, compare GMO to a cross of Grape Pie x Do-Si-Do: both have similar terpene profiles, but the actual aroma is completely different. What else contributes to the complex aroma we smell from cannabis? A new paper published by Abstrax Tech helps answer this question.
Cannabis Genetic Testing
A news site catering to the science enthused professional with daily cannabinoid news, research and opinions. Cannabis genetic testing is integral in understanding and predicting the landscape of medicinal compounds that the plant can produce. The Interplay of the Endocannabinoid System and Sperm Production
One of the concerns with Cannabis use is the decreased quality of semen in men and an increased risk of testicular germ cell cancer.[1] Researchers at the University of Denmark are conducting studies to clear up some of the questions about how Cannabis interferes with male fertility. Using Cannabis products produces pharmacological effects in our bodies by acting on the endocannabinoid system (ECS).
Endocannabinoid Involvement in Major Depressive Disorder
A news site catering to the science enthused professional with daily cannabinoid news, research and opinions. A study from the University of Rome is helping researchers understand the connection between endocannabinoids in the blood and major depressive disorder (MDD). [1] Previous research [2,3] has resulted in conflicting statements as to which, if any, endocannabinoids were involved in depression.
The Benefits and Potential Risks of Cannabidiol
Cannabidiol (CBD) is well tolerated and widely used in the form of prescription Epidiolex® and sold over the counter and via the Internet nationwide. This cannabinoid is legal because it is produced in the low-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)-producing hemp plant, for which cultivation became legal in 2018. [1] CBD facilitates various well-studied pharmacological effects on the body such as anxiety relief, anti-inflammation, neuroprotection, anti-psychosis, and anti-epilepsy.
