GHS 21-year tennis title drought comes to an end
Grantsville High School’s girls tennis team broke the school’s 21-year title drought last Saturday, taking home the 3A State Championship and two individual titles. The battle was hard fought, with every member of the team doing exactly what they needed to do. Grantsville’s last team title was in 2003, before any of the players on the team were born. The team championship came down to senior and returning-state champion Afton Orgill’s final first singles match against a Judge Memorial freshman.
GHS Girls Tennis Wins 3A Region
The Grantsville girls’ tennis team continued their success as they tied for first place at the Region 13 tournament. It has been roughly 10 years since the girls won their last region championship, so the girls hope to carry the momentum into the 3A State Tournament this weekend at Liberty Park in Salt Lake.
Promising season for Grantsville Girls Tennis
With the season well underway, the Grantsville Girls Tennis Team continues to triumph during play. Last week, the girls dominated their opponents in matchplay, beating Hunter (4-1) and Union (5-0). They finished the week with all the varsity positions taking first in the Central Utah Invitational and securing the team gold trophy.
A Tennis Girl’s Dream: GHS tennis players attend U.S. Open
During the thick of the season, amidst practices, matches and bus rides, five senior girls on the Grantsville Tennis Team were able to experience the ultimate tennis dream: traveling to New York City to watch the US Open. The girls had been dreaming of the trip for a year, but it became a reality only one month prior. Though it required some last minute planning, the vacation did not disappoint.
Auto-Pain (Deluxe), by Deeper
Auto-Pain (Deluxe) by Deeper supported by Art Fin This was one of the best indie-rock albums of 2020 with a jagged, twitchy sound that reminds me of Wire and early Gang of Four. This deluxe version includes remixes from Working Men's Club and Nnamdi plus demos and a live set. Favorite track: Run. / Streaming + Download Pre-order of Auto-Pain (Deluxe).
On school shootings: It's time to protect kids as we do judges
This latest school shooting screams that it is long past time that we do something to stop them. If we value the lives of our most precious asset, our children, we cannot continue on this path of political posturing but doing nothing. There is a bipartisan lack of action by both Democrats and Republicans. After the Las Vegas massacre, the NRA and every sensible person agreed that bump stocks should be outlawed, yet nothing has been done.
'Don't make bakers serve gay couples'
I am not surprised The Times came down against the Christian baker. But you are right, it is not about the First Amendment. It's about persecuting Christians and holding them to a different standard. Having the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness should include the right to invest your money, time, hard work and taxes into a business and be able to run it however you like. It's not like there is no other bakery available to bake a cake for this couple.
