Turning the Spotlight Away from PDT: Chemodynamic Dominance of 2-(2-Bromopyridin-4-yl)-1H-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline Based Ru(II)/Ir(III)/Re(I) Complexes against MDA-MB-231
Abstract Click to copy section linkSection link copied! A series of ruthenium(II), iridium(III), and rhenium(I) complexes incorporating a 2-bromopyridine imidazophenanthroline ligand were synthesized and initially poised as photodynamic therapy candidates, supported by TD-DFT and excited-state lifetime data.

The role of ancillary ligands on benzodipyridophenazine-based Ru(II)/Ir(III) complexes in dark and light toxicity against TNBC cells
The role of ancillary ligands on benzodipyridophenazine-based Ru(ii)/Ir(iii) complexes in dark and light toxicity against TNBC cells†‡ In this study, we investigated the impact of ancillary ligands on the anticancer activity of benzodipyridophenazine-based Ru(II) and Ir(III) complexes (Ru1, Ru2, Ir1, and Ir2).

GSH resistant, luminescent 2-(pyren-1-yl)-1H-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline-based Ru(II)/Ir(III)/Re(I) complexes for phototoxicity in triple-negative breast cancer cells
GSH resistant, luminescent 2-(pyren-1-yl)-1H-imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline-based Ru(ii)/Ir(iii)/Re(i) complexes for phototoxicity in triple-negative breast cancer cells† Selective chemotherapeutic strategies necessitate the emergence of a photosensitive scaffold to abate the nuisance of cancer. In the current context, photo-activated chemotherapy (PACT) has, therefore, appeared to be very effective to vanquish the vehemence of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC).
