What to do with a large, ugly Leylandii tree in your garden
Our huge tree was dominating our garden and it created a wall of fir that was the first thing you saw as you looked out the window. The greenhouse and lawn behind could not be seen unless you pushed past the lleylandi and went into the darkest end of our garden. To start to tackle this monster tree, we decided to take the very top of the tree off first. As we had only a hand saw, we only removed the top 6 feet of the tree. The trunk was still fairly slim and easy to cut at that point.
Backyard Landscaping Ideas For A Gorgeous Retreat

First I decided where I wanted my pond to be, then got my shovel and started digging. Pond supply stores carry all the necessary parts, liners and pipes. Many books are available to assist a beginner. And be sure to check out YouTube. Be aware, however, it can become an obsession. One pond leads to fish, then bigger fish require yet another pond.

Garden Journal Entry #10: A Very Quick Review of 2015
If I've learned anything in public writing, it is that pretending, in writing, that real life doesn't exist on the other side, is a never ending pursuit of futility. I realize my last garden journal ended with mulching my raised beds in May, and I never updated again after that. I'd love to go back and retroactively publish a few more entries to prove that I was still around all summer and my garden wasn't completely forgotten. But I'm not going to do that.

Osteoblasts, Osteoclasts, Calcium and Bone Remodeling
Bones are impressive structures that are even more amazing than many people realize. They provide attachment sites for muscles and enable us to move. Some, such as the skull and ribs, protect vital organs. They also make our blood cells, store minerals such as calcium and release them when necessary, and store lipids, which are an energy reserve. One very important function of bone is to send calcium into the bloodstream when the body needs it. Calcium is a vital chemical in our bodies.
