Supreme Court's Redistricting Decision Threatens Democracy, Voting Rights Advocates Warn
Overview: The Supreme Court's recent decision to allow Texas's racially discriminatory 2025 maps to stand is a setback for voting rights, leaving Black and Brown communities without fair representation in the process. Holder (2013). In the Reconstruction Era immediately following the U.S. Civil War, Black voters in the South were able to participate in federal elections in 1868 for the first time.
