Robbyn Swan has co-authored three bestselling books. Her most recent book, The Eleventh Day: The Full Story of 9/11 & Osama bin Laden, was a finalist for the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for History and won the prestigious Gold Dagger for Non-Fiction. Published in summer 2011 to mark the tenth anniversary of the event, it is a full-scale investigation of the al Qaeda attacks on New York and Washington.
The Arrogance of Power, a biography of former President Richard Nixon, appeared in 2000, and Sinatra: The Life in 2005.
Swan contributes to Vanity Fair and has written for The Daily Telegraph, Salon, The Observer, The Daily Beast, MSNBC, The Irish Times, The Sunday Independent [Ireland], the London Independent, Defense News, and The National Journal. Her work has also appeared in Life, Marie Claire, Easy Living, and Woman’s Day. Swan has been a consultant on documentaries for the BBC, American Public Broadcasting, A&E, The History Channel, and CNN.
Swan spent five years running a shelter in Washington, D.C. for mentally ill homeless women, part of a unique project to create housing for the long-term homeless.
Swan is a graduate of Smith College and did post-graduate work in Russian and East European Studies.
Swan is married to author Anthony Summers, lives in Ireland and has three children.
