Moderately thinning encroaching shrub species is key to balancing rangeland restoration and arthropod biodiversity conservation in Namibia
1 INTRODUCTION Bush encroachment is a change in the ecological state of a system, particularly in arid and semi-arid ecosystems, characterized by the transformation of open savannah and grassland vegetation into dense stands of bush species (O'Connor et al., 2014; Venter et al., 2018; Ward, 2025).

Abiotic and biotic controls of non-native perennial plant success in drylands - Nature Ecology & Evolution
|
Abstract Drivers of non-native plant success in drylands are poorly understood. Here we identify functional differences between dryland native and non-native perennial plants and assess how biotic, abiotic and anthropogenic factors shape the success of the latter. On the basis of plant community and functional trait data from 98 sites across 25 countries, we report a total of 41 non-native plant species at 31 sites. Non-natives tend towards faster growth strategies than natives.

Directedeness, correlations, and daily cycles in springbok motion: From data via stochastic models to movement prediction
How predictable is the next move of an animal? Specifically, which factors govern the short- and long-term motion patterns and the overall dynamics of land-bound, plant-eating animals in general and ruminants in particular? To answer this question, we here study the movement dynamics of springbok antelopes Antidorcas marsupialis.
