NFL Insider Names Veteran Chargers Star as a Possible Trade Candidate
Many have been talking about veteran Chargers edge rusher Khalil Mack getting traded ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline. He is still playing at a relatively high level at age 35, and he could help a contender put itself over the top in the race for this winter’s Vince Lombardi Trophy. But an L.A. defensive star who is still in or near his prime could also get traded, according to NFL insider Jason La Canfora.
Austin Reaves felt seeing LeBron James in a 76ers jersey was 'crazy'
Austin Reaves felt seeing LeBron James in a 76ers jersey was 'crazy' On Tuesday, for the first time in nine years, LeBron James opened up a new NBA season while wearing a jersey that did not have the word "Lakers" on it. He is now a member of the Philadelphia 76ers after spending the previous eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, and his debut was a successful one.
A 49ers Star Asked GM John Lynch About Trading for Khalil Mack
Mack could be on his way to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He has made the Pro Bowl nine times and the All-Pro First Team three times, and as recently as 2023, he had a career-high 17 sacks. Through six games this season, the 35-year-old has posted three sacks, six quarterback hits, five tackles for loss and 19 total tackles (11 solo). He is in the final year of his contract, as he signed a one-year, $18 million deal in March after contemplating retirement.
NFL Insider Names Veteran Chargers Star as a Possible Trade Candidate
The 0-6 Los Angeles Chargers are floundering like they rarely have, and that is saying something, given the large amount of bad fortune they have dealt with for much of their franchise history. Their offense is one of the worst in the NFL, and while their defense has shown some flashes of competency, they haven’t shown any real excellence on that side of the football either. This has all led to the expectation that big changes could be made soon.

Lakers release injury report for season opener vs. Warriors
Throughout their five-game preseason schedule, the Los Angeles Lakers dealt with some minor injuries to several of their key players. New starting center Walker Kessler missed the first three games with a jammed pinky finger, and forward Adou Thiero and rookie guard Cameron Carr sat out multiple games. Most notably, guard Collin Sexton, who is expected to give them a big lift this season, presumably in a sixth-man role, didn't play at all.
NFL Insider Gives Update on 49ers WR Mike Evans’ Achilles Injury
This is the third season in a row where the San Francisco 49ers have had to deal with one injury after another. In particular, their wide receiver room has been hit hard by the injury bug. Going into Monday’s game against the Washington Commanders, they were already without wideouts Christian Kirk, De’Zhaun Stribling, DeMarcus Robinson and Deebo Samuel Sr. Just before halftime, they lost Mike Evans to an Achilles injury, and he didn’t return.
A 49ers Star Asked GM John Lynch About Trading for Khalil Mack
While the San Francisco 49ers are 6-0 and looking like the best team in the NFL right now, their roster isn’t complete — and even if they were fully healthy, it still wouldn’t be complete. The thinking across the league is that San Francisco needs one more proven pass rusher, whether it is a defensive end or an interior defensive lineman, to truly solidify its chances of winning the Super Bowl championship.
One analyst's bold, bullish prediction for the Lakers' defense
If someone who is not bullish on the Los Angeles Lakers this season is asked to explain the reason for that pessimism, that person would likely point to the Lakers' defense as the biggest reason. After all, L.A. was 20th in defensive rating last season, and while the team traded for shot-blocking specialist Walker Kessler, the doubters say that the other players the team brought in are either unproven or underwhelming on that end of the floor.
ESPN pundit picks surprising Lakers player to be most valuable reserve
For the last few seasons, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a weak bench. Last season, they ranked second-to-last in the NBA in bench points, and they likely only had a couple of playable reserves in sharpshooter Luke Kennard and forward Rui Hachimura. But this season, at least on paper, their bench looks solid, if not very strong.
Jim Harbaugh Could Simplify the Chargers’ Offensive Playbook
Through six weeks of this season, the 0-6 Los Angeles Chargers rank 30th in points and last in expected points added (EPA) per play. Their offense looks completely broken, and the predictions that new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel would make them one of the NFL’s most exciting and high-powered offensive teams are now a distant memory.
To Rehab From Last Year’s Ankle Injury, Fred Warner Turned to a Very Different Sport
Fred Warner, the San Francisco 49ers’ star middle linebacker, is used to being dominant on the field. But when he suffered a gruesome fibula injury in Week 6 of last season, he had to come to grips with a very foreign and emasculating feeling. For several weeks after undergoing surgery, he couldn’t put any weight on his injured foot. It was in a boot, and it was a shock to the system of arguably the best player at his position in the NFL.
Jason McCourty Asked the Chargers To Do Just One Thing This Season
With a 0-6 record, the Los Angeles Chargers have become an unmitigated disaster so far this season. Everyone is pointing the finger and demanding big changes right away, including, but not limited to, firing new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, but it seems very unlikely that the team will find a way to play much better by the end of the season. This has already been one of the worst seasons in the history of the unlucky franchise.
Mike Evans’ Achilles Injury May Not Be That Severe
Coming into Monday’s game against the Washington Commanders, the San Francisco 49ers had a depleted wide receiver room due to injuries. They only had Mike Evans, Jordan Watkins, Jacob Cowing, Brandin Cooks and Malik Turner, who was just elevated from their practice squad, available to play at the position as they looked to stay undefeated. They did improve to 6-0 with a 23-17 victory, but they lost Evans just before halftime when he left the field just after making a 16-yard catch.
NBA scout on two weaknesses that held Dalton Knecht back with Lakers
Dalton Knecht is no longer a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. On Monday afternoon, they waived him right before the NBA's deadline for teams to get down to 15 players on standard contracts, and it ended a disappointing two-year stint in L.A. for him. He was the No. 17 pick in the 2024 draft, and at the time, he was regarded as a steal for the Lakers, especially since he was expected to go much higher in that draft.
