Robert Rand’s Biography

Robert Rand is an Emmy and duPont Award winning reporter and producer from his many years in the investigative reporting units at CBS 3 (KYW) Philadelphia and CBS 2 (KCBS) L.A. as well as his TV news reporting and producing at WPVI, KGO, KPIX, WPLG, KNBC, KCAL, and KCOP.
Rand is the only journalist who covered the 1989 Menendez murders investigation as well as the 1993-94 and 1995-96 Menendez brothers trials for the Miami Herald and Playboy. He was in court daily providing analysis for Court TV, CNN, ABC, NBC and CBS News. Rand’s investigative stories have appeared in The Guardian, Playboy, People, Stern, Milan's Corrierre della Sera, and Tropic, the Sunday magazine of the Miami Herald. Rand's Menendez cover story for People ran in March 1990 ten days after the arrest of Erik and Lyle Menendez. In March 1991, Playboy published "The Killing of Jose Menendez." The 14,000 word story is the longest article ever run by Playboy. Rand's 2018 book, "The Menendez Murders," was adapted by Dick Wolf for an eight episode NBC limited series 'Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders' starring Edie Falco (now streaming on all major platforms).
