The current darkness and the Mabul: Rabbi Mendel Kessin
This is an edited transcription. It combines quotes and paraphrases. For this reason, quotation marks are not used except to indicate inventive phraseology or titles. Introduction: The time period before the mashiach comes requires even more elucidation because we are “really in it.” We know the main idea, as chazal — the sages tell us, that there is a period of Darkness, suffering, which I have been talking about. Why?
Why is There Darkness Before the End? Rabbi Mendel Kessin
Introduction: Sunday, June 13, 2021, Netanyahu was voted out of office after 12 years. Bennett and Lapid are now at the helm. The sensational nature of this development is miraculous. Reviewing the miracles: Bennett could not even pass the threshold in the penultimate election. Now, in a sense, he’s been resurrected.
Understanding the success of the Israeli left: Rabbi Mendel Kessin
Introduction: The rabbi reviews events in Israel, the imminent validation of a coalition of “leftist” parties led by Yesh Atid’s Yair Lapid and Yamina’s Naphtali Bennett. This remarkable victory requires examination from the perspective of the Divine Agenda, particularly because it seems a development anathema to orthodox Judaism and a significant threat to the Torah world and to that which orthodox influence has striven for years to provide.

Current Events & Existence of G-d: Rabbi Mendel Kessin
This transcription is not verbatim but includes much of the rabbi’s exact language. Introduction: Current Events If the “left” succeed in putting together this coalition (in Israel), it will mean the Eirev Rav, the enemies of Judaism, has been victorious which is a tremendous leap into Darkness—a leap the geulah–Redemption process needs.
War of antisemitism: Why Now? Rabbi Mendel Kessin
This is an edited transcription of the audio class given May 24, 2020: Introduction: This lecture is meant as “light guidance” given recent events which have startled and disturbed many. After enumerating some of these events, Rabbi Kessin will offer, as always, an analysis based on hashkafa: We have been through a war.
Meditation, nature of the soul and Nevuah: Rabbi Mendel Kessin, part 1 of 15
The topic “meditation” is one filled with ambiguity and vagueness. Despite much literature on the topic, there is much confusion. In order to begin to understand this subject, there should be prerequisite knowledge that many lack. There are four difficulties that have to be resolved. If one does not resolve these, then true clarity cannot be achieved. Understanding without such background results in superficial grasp of the subject.
Bread of Shame--Nehama d'Kesufa: Rabbi Mendel Kessin
Introduction to Edited Transcription: Rabbi Kessin: Last week, I spoke about free will, what it is, what are its conditions. Now, I want to put that in a particular context; otherwise, it makes less sense. The Existential Dilemma Why has G-d created a situation requiring that mankind, and particularly Jews, make decisions to fulfill tasks thrust between righteousness or sinfulness?
Sefira and redemption, part 2: Rabbi Mendel Kessin
This lecture is part 2 of “Sefira and the Redemption, Part 1” Brief Recap: Part 1 began a lecture about the stages of Redemption. G-d says: even if you are outcasts, even in the farthest regions, at the “ends of heaven,” I will “gather” you (y’kabetzcah/kibbutz) and “take” (yekachecha/kicha) you.

Mashiach's Current Struggle: Rabbi Mendel Kessin
“Why haven’t you come?” Such is the question from tzaddikim—righteous individuals who pass away and request an audience with the mashiach. “Everything looks so bleak.” The mashiach responds, “You want me to come. Fine. But if I come now, there are those among the Jewish people who will not merit to see the Future World.” So, the tzaddikim–righteous ones opt for a delay. Only G-d knows when each of us will deserve it, will have fulfilled his mission, his tikkun—rectification of Creation.

Hashkafa on the tragedy in Meron: Rabbi Mendel Kessin
Rabbi’s Introduction: At the time of this lecture, the coming Shabbat’s bible portion is “Behar-Bechudotai.” That date is chaf-vav Iyar — 26 day of Iyar, and the omer count indicates: yesod, she’b’yesod—foundation of the foundation. It is the yahrzeit–memorial of RaMChal, Rav Moshe Chaim Luzatto. The “hashkafa I use,” says the rabbi, is based on his teachings, so this shiur is lizchut — in merit of l’ilui neshmato — the elevation of his soul. What happened on lag b’omer was an unbelievable tragedy.
Deeper Insight Into Pesach Sheni and Lag b'Omer: Rabbi Mendel Kessin
A question arises from a participant in this lecture-call: “Redemption-wise,” does Pesach sheni — the second Passover have the same significance as the first? The acumen of the question prompts the underlying question: what is the second Passover all about? And because lag b’omer is a few days away at the time of the lecture, the rabbi will address its significance too.
Sefira and the Redemption: Part 1, Rabbi Mendel Kessin
This lecture takes place in the midst of counting the omer, leading up to the holiday of Shavuot when the nation received the Torah at Sinai. The counting of the sefirot—the Divine emanations is explained as part of the rabbi’s objective to clarify the significance of this special time within the context of the geula-Redemption.
Light of redemption throughout history: Rabbi Mendel Kessin, part 3
PART 3 of 3 Preparations for Messianic Enlightenment in Our Times New-Age Ideas, cont.: When you contemplate the mood of the ‘60s and the introduction of Kabbalah into the secular and religious worlds, you see the beginning of the preparations for spiritual enlightenment. Were you to go into any bookstore and find the “New Age” section, there you’d find kabbalistic literature. Half a century ago, this was unheard of. Go to Barnes and Noble.
Light of Redemption Through History: Rabbi Mendel Kessin, PART 2
Part 2 The Year 1740: Effect of the Divine Light Torah as “Trigger:” In the year 1740, the equivalent to 5500, which is equivalent to the dawn of the Shabbat, Erev Shabbos, it is 6:00 a.m. on the Cosmic Clock. More light descends on both science and Torah. It is important to appreciate that science is G-d’s work, just as much as Torah, except that there is no command that the Jews study science; that’s left to the non-Jewish nations. Jews, however, were specifically commanded to study Torah.
Light of Redemption Throughout History Pt 1: Rabbi Mendel Kessin
The Zohar says that the Ohr Mashiach will be felt in the Gregorian calendar year of 1240, which is equivalent to the Hebrew year 5000. Those dates are equivalent to the sixth day on the Creation Calendar, the eve of Shabbat, the beginning of the preparation for the Sabbath. So it makes a lot of sense for that time to be propitious for the Ohr to come into Creation.
The third temple: Rabbi Mendel Kessin
When G-d instructed the prophet Yechezkel, to record the dimensions of the Third Temple, he reasonably wondered as to the purpose of the directive given that the Jews were about to be driven into exile. But this period of exile is really a third and final preparation, the final “device” to complete the tikkun — rectification of Creation.

Rabbi Mendel Kessin: The Turmoil That Surrounds the Coming of Mashiach
“We live in very confusing times,” says Rabbi Mendel Kessin. The list is long: the havoc wrought by Covid-19, the U.S. election whose controversy is magnified by purveyors of fake news, the pending Israeli elections after two years of paralysis and socio-political divisiveness, the “turmoil” which disrupts the “flow of civilization.” So, as always, the rabbi asks, “How does the Divine Agenda explain what is happening?” How do the requirements of the Divine Agenda itself explain the turmoil?
Rabbi Mendel Kessin: The Inner Meaning of the 2020 American Elections
The rabbi describes what he does as “connecting the dots” in transmitting an understanding of current events in light of foundational, hashkofic ideas. You see a larger landscape after all. But the picture is bigger still. The landscapes from all directions recently traversed can yet be connected. That is what the rabbi had done here.
When pain management proves fatal
Published in the May 2011 issue of Today’s Hospitalist WHEN WE LOOK AT WHY HOSPITALISTS ARE SUED, it’s no surprise that the specialty’s No. 1 liability problem is missed or delayed diagnoses. But clinicians’ failure to correctly select and manage therapies is right up there on the list of reasons why hospitalists end up in trouble. Check out our two-part series on minimizing malpractice risk: “Honest mistakes that can get you sued,” April 2017.
Rabbi Mendel Kessin: Rescue of the Jews Before Redemption
In this remarkable shiur, the rabbi consolidates ideas from recent lectures making the powerful case for the trajectory of history moving evermore rapidly toward global Redemption. The focus returns to that of hanhagas ha’yichud–the behavior of the Absolute One, that particular aspect of G-d’s conduct which translates into what the rabbi terms “rescue.” We are at that stage of the messianic process.

Seeking C - Reasons To Add Vitamin C to Your Skincare Routine
Taking in Vitamin Sea is a way of life in South Florida, but are you giving your skin what it needs to protect and repair after time spent in the sand, surf, and sun? Boca-based, Facial Plastic Surgeon Dr. Jacob Steiger, M.D. of Steiger Facial Plastic Surgery explains that “by living in South Florida, you are subject to constant sun exposure which increases the risk of free radical formation.” Free radicals can cause damage to our DNA and ultimately cause signs of aging.
Rabbi M. Kessin: America's Role in the Messianic Process
This lecture is somewhat of a departure from the track the rabbi usually takes, he tells us from the start. He doesn’t usually tell stories. “I’m an idea man—a concept man.” Indeed, the rabbi’s general approach is to explain current events in the context of the messianic process of the Divine Agenda using excerpts from sacred texts and exegeses of Jewish sages.
Rabbi Mendel Kessin: Extraordinary Aspects of the Redemption Process
In this most recent lecture in the series on End of Time events within the context of the Divine Agenda, Rabbi Kessin focuses on the “pre-messianic,” asking the question: what is the bridge that leads from the galus–exile to the messianic age?” The rabbi states out at the start that the scenario he describes could happen, based on chazal—the foundational ideas of the sages, but whether it will happen can only be borne out by history.
Rabbi Mendel Kessin: End of the American Exile
This edited transcription is composed in honor of the second yahrzeit of my mother, Devorah bat Shoshana, 22nd of Tammuz. The merit of this transcription which might elevate the spirituality of a reader should elevate my mother’s neshama in Gan Eden. The rabbi begins his lecture with basic questions in order to erect a foundation of his analysis upon the firm ground of the Divine Agenda. The topic is the American exile which is galus—exile, the final exile. How will it end?

Rabbi Mendel Kessin: The American Upheaval
Continuing his lectures on current events based on hashkofa, this one, given June 19, 2020, addresses the “eruptions, upheavals and catastrophes” in America. Lest we think the rabbi refers only to the most recent events, he reminds us that these upheavals began when Trump announced his candidacy. The Vendettas The vendettas began with accusations of Russian collusion and repeated suppositions of treason.
Rabbi Mendel Kessin: The Purification of America in the End of Days
The following lecture was given in August 2016, less than three months before Trump’s election. This video–linked here–is one of 21st-Century series of lectures which can be found on the rabbi’s website: torahthinking.com MK:I am revisiting our last class concerning the ohr rishon–first light, messianic light. It is a very important to understand the entire development of the ohr rishon in historical context and as the main idea behind the mashiach.
Rabbi Mendel Kessin: How Coronavirus Accelerates the Redemption Process
I wish to dedicate this essay to aliyut neshama of my father, Yosef ben Sarah, whose yahrzeit was on the 19th of Iyar, 5780. Rabbi Mendel Kessin: 21st-Century #54: How Coronavirus Accelerates the Redemption Process / RaMCHaL’s Yahrzeit 5780, given May 19th, 2020 The rabbi begins his lecture honoring the memory of Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzzato, the RaMCHaL, and dedicating the lecture to the aliyus neshama of Rabbi Moshe Chaim ben Yakov Chai.

R. Mendel Kessin: Pandemic & the Messianic Process
Rabbi Mendel Kessin, in his popular shiur of March 20th 2020, begins by extolling the greatness of chochma—wisdom, contrasting it with nevuah–prophecy. Although only prophecy can reveal with certainty the meaning of such a global phenomenon as this pandemic, the chazal—sages, tell us that human intelligence is, in some ways, superior to prophecy. Through implications and deductions, wisdom and intellect can grasp a great deal.
