What was your first job as a journalist?

My first job in media was as a Copy Editor, at TRT World in Istanbul. I had a lot of wonderful (and occasionally scary) experiences!

No

What does it mean to be a journalist?

I believe in the traditional ideal that journalism means dedicating oneself to reporting the truth. In practice, this can be tricky

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

By email, and then a follow up call if the pitch is relevant.

Why did you become a journalist?

I fell into it, becoming a Copy Editor shortly after getting married. I found it to suit my personality and my talents.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

At home, reading a book or watching a movie.
