Student newspaper at Edinburgh University.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

Editor.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Don't give up the day job. Write part-time, then if it doesn't work out it's not as hard a crash. If your writing career does take off great.

When's the best time to pitch you?

As far away as possible from an editor's own deadlines.

What's your favorite drink?

Negroni.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Up a mountain, sailing out to sea or enjoying a wee dram in the gloaming.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

It's an easy job and an easy life.
