The StanbyME 2 Max sits on the side of a living room displaying a yellow clock face. LG has launched its latest moveable screen display to deliver “a more flexible and enjoyable entertainment experience”. That comes in the form of the rather clunkily named StanbyME 2 Max (does anyone else have Ben E. King stuck in their head now?), which expands on the first iteration five years after it came out.

An image of the Jurassic Park album cover on a gold background. Movie scores are a sure-fire way to test your sound system’s performance. There’s a whole lot of variety in that category, from emotive scores to pull on the heartstrings (hearing any piece of music from E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial immediately takes me into a nostalgic wormhole) to tense action tracks to get the blood pumping. In our AV and hi-fi test rooms, we often turn to movie scores to decide how well a sound system performs.

But buying a ticket for Nolan’s latest release is not as straightforward as it probably should be. Depending on your local cinema, you could be choosing between IMAX 70mm, ‘standard’ IMAX, Dolby Cinema, 70mm film, 35mm or Premium Large Format. The movie social platform Letterboxd has even released a digital punchcard to tick them off. Let’s be honest, though, the majority of people will not be forking out the extra cash to watch the film more than once or twice in the cinema.

What was your first job as a journalist?

I started as an intern at The Guernsey Press which involved writing local news. I still freelance for them as a film reviewer.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

I wish! My grandmother used to write everything on her typewriter, I aspire to that level of brilliance.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

All sorts, really. The ones I use the most are InDesign, Final Cut Pro, and Google Analytics.
