Bolivia: “We Are The Center Of The World”
Above Photo: Rogelio Mayta. A speech by Rogelio Mayta, Bolivia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, on May 12, 2022, during the End of the World Summit of the Progressive International. Humanity is at a turning point. Not only war and climate change threaten life on our planet. Ideologies and some people as well.

We know that money and the production of wealth and well-being have created an ever greater and more profound gap between people, neighborhoods, cities and countries—a gap that has been exacerbated by the pandemic.
Angelenos March for Abortion Rights
More than 10,000 supporters of abortion rights for women rallied here as part of national actions May 14. Other California protests took place in San Diego, Sacramento, San Francisco, Long Beach, Pasadena, and a host of smaller cities. La Opinion reported protests in 430 cities, the largest demonstrations since the nationwide explosion of actions after the killing of George Floyd. The grandly named Summit of the Americas is due to be held in Los Angeles next month, if the Biden administration can decide who to invite and what to talk about if they turn up. As things stand, Bolivia, Mexico, Argentina, Honduras and most of the Caribbean states have said they will not attend if Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua are not included. Although Biden no longer calls them the ‘troika of tyranny’ like Trump did, the governments of these three countries are still ostracized by Washington.
