The Ghost of Yotei DLC isn't great, but it's a good reminder of why the main game is
At the risk of repeating myself, Ghost of Yotei is perhaps my favorite video game of 2025. I absolutely inhaled the entire game before it was even released, got the Platinum trophy (my very first) soon after, and generally spent dozens upon dozens of hours wandering the beautiful vistas of Yotei as Atsu. Despite all of this, the recent Ghost of Yotei DLC has done absolutely nothing for me – except remind me why I loved Ghost of Yotei in the first place.
Exclusive Riftbound card reveals feature a princely League of Legends champion all about gear
The League of Legends trading card game Riftbound is set to get a bit more radiant when its newest and final 2026 set, Riftbound: Radiance, releases later this month on October 23. As with other Riftbound sets, there are several new mechanics, and GamesRadar+ has its very own preview of a card from the upcoming set that features one of them: Jarvan IV, Martian Paragon. Plus his beach skin alternate art! Riftbound: Radiance specifically includes three new mechanics: Deploy, Show Off, and Disarm.
Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is my ideal RPG sequel and the Three Houses followup I always wanted
Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is perfect if you want hours upon hours of grid-based tactical combat, plenty of role-playing game elements like levels and classes, and so very many different characters. Here's the 60-second pitch for why you should play Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave this weekend: Fortune's Weave has consumed my life.
The X-Men assemble in place of the Avengers in Maximum X-Men #1 preview
The X-Men have their work cut out for them in the wake of Avengers: Armageddon. As announced by Marvel Comics back at SDCC 2026, writer Christopher Yost and artist Tony S. Daniel will be getting the team back together, so to speak, while the Avengers pick up the pieces in Maximum X-Men this December – and we've got an exclusive preview of the interior art as well as some answers from Yost about what to expect from the new ongoing series.
Nintendo Direct September 2026 live coverage – all the leaks and rumors on the build-up to the showcase
How much is too much? The price of the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller themed around The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake has thrown up some discourse. So while you're here, let us know your thoughts: How much is too much for Switch Pro Controller? Can you believe that it's been almost a decade since the release of Super Mario Odyssey for the original Nintendo Switch?
Orbitals promises a Split Fiction take on retro anime, but I've struggled to enjoy its co-op
Do you believe in love at first sight? What about when the subject of that affection is a video game? I don't think I would have said I do, until the first trailer for the heavily anime-inspired Orbitals from developer Shapefarm and publisher Kepler Interactive dropped. And, all of the sudden, I did believe in love at first sight – maybe especially for video games. But this also turned out to be Orbitals' fatal flaw.
Orbitals is a gorgeous anime throwback, but I've had a tough time enjoying its mandatory co-op

Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave fixes my biggest issue with Three Houses, and I'm already obsessed
Leda, dressed as a dancer, moves her hand in front of her in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave in front of red fabric. The biggest problem with Fire Emblem: Three Houses, if I were forced to try to consider what didn't work as well as it could have in my favorite Fire Emblem game to date, is that it locks you into something like 50 hours or more of a single route early on. In a game with four of them total, that's a whole lot of unseen gameplay and cutscenes and dialogue.
Game of the Week – Big Walk is a brilliant co-op puzzler that's more than "friendslop"
Big Walk. Big Walk is perfect if you want mind-bending puzzle design combined with the joy of hanging out with friends. Here's the 60-second pitch for why you should play Big Walk this weekend: Big Walk is, if you'll pardon the horrifying combination of words, thoughtful "friendslop" – if such a thing exists. It is the perfect sort of game to goof around with friends, kicking objects into the distant dark or firing flare guns haphazardly into occupied buildings.

Big Walk is a COVID game about nothing (and everything)
Big Walk is a multiplayer puzzle game. It's an open-world co-op game where you explore an island and successfully complete challenges with friends using in-game proximity voice chat. It is a "friendslop" game, insomuch as that means a relatively low-lift game that you play with friends featuring sometimes-wacky physics. Big Walk is a new game from House House, creator of the infamously beloved Untitled Goose Game. Big Walk is a COVID game. Let me explain.

After Destiny 2's death, Warframe head's advice for anyone in live services is to "make a good game before they kick you out"
Maintaining a live-service game is a tough line of work. You've got to keep the updates coming, constantly roll out hotfixes, and you're constantly relying on your community to make the release viable. Warframe's been going steady for 13 years now, an impressive feat, and Rebecca Ford, the game's creative director, takes nothing for granted.
Exclusive Riftbound card reveals bring League of Legends' shadows to life
A figure with glowing eyes and a knightly helmet looks into the foreground. League of Legends trading card game Riftbound is set to release its fourth set, Vendetta, later this month on July 31. Previews of cards for the upcoming set have already begun, and we here at GamesRadar+ have our very own duo of cards to share with players excited to see what's coming next for one of the best card games in recent years.

Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 review: "Better in basically every way compared to its first season"
Gordon Cormier as Aang earthbending in Avatar: The Last Airbender season 2. Netflix's live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender will always be directly compared to the animated Nickelodeon series it so closely adapts; such is the fate of all adaptations. Does it hew too closely to the original or go too far afield? That's the constant question, and a fair one, for any media directly recreating another.
TennoCon 2026 is on the event horizon, and here's what to expect
TennoCon 2026 key art featuring two hands with a star behind them. Get ready, Warframe and Soulframe devotees, because the annual Digital Extremes convention you do not want to miss is nearly here: TennoCon 2026 takes place in beautiful London, Ontario, for two entire days of events and activities – physically and virtually – on July 10 and July 11.
My kids won't stop asking to play this new version of The Game of Life
Toniebox 2 playing Game of Life lifestyle photo with two kids. I've had my eye on the Toniebox 2, the upgraded audio entertainment system for kids, for months now ever since a family friend gifted us the previous version of Toniebox. There are any number of reasons to make the jump, but the simple fact is that there are now some interactive characters or materials that simply don't work on the original.
How excellent companions turn good RPGs into great ones, straight from the Exodus devs: "That's really what I think a lot of players love"
Exodus screenshot of Salt companion with Big Preview branding. In a post-Baldur's Gate 3 world, it should come as no surprise that there is an extra emphasis on interesting, compelling companion characters in RPGs. Exodus is no different. The sci-fi RPG might take place out in the cold vastness of space, but from conversations with the development team at Archetype Entertainment, there's plenty of interpersonal conflict (and perhaps romance) to keep things warm.
How excellent companions turn good RPGs into great ones, straight from the Exodus devs: "That's really what I think a lot of players love"
The next game in the Baldur's Gate series won't be a sequel to Larian Studios' Game of the Year RPG Baldur's Gate 3, apparently, but a return to the classics. According to an anonymous source cited by PC Gamer, Dungeons & Dragons owner Wizards of the Coast is currently developing a remake of Baldur's …
Exodus narrative director dives into its inspirations from Interstellar to Star Wars to, yes, Mass Effect
Exodus screenshot of Jun zipping along in the air with Big Preview branding. While there's good reason to associate Exodus with Mass Effect, it's more than the fact that they are both, at the end of the day, space sci-fi RPGs. There's also the strong BioWare DNA; Archetype Entertainment founder and former BioWare creative James Ohlen may have left the studio last year, but it doesn't take much digging to find a lot of BioWare experience is still there.
Exodus hands-on: "Carries the Mass Effect baton well into deep space with ambitious RPG mechanics that let me get tactical"
Exodus screenshot of characters with Big Preview branding template. Exodus, the upcoming sci-fi action-adventure RPG from developer Archetype Entertainment and Wizards of the Coast, is a big swing. It's the first title from the developer – which includes talent with pedigrees from the likes of Halo Studios, Electronic Arts, Naughty Dog, and, yes, BioWare – and an early salvo from Wizards of the Coast's shift toward internal game development.

10 Best Open-World Games That Let You Feel Like a Superhero One of the most exciting aspects of playing open-world games is that many of them allow us to just go around and do whatever we want. And guess what? …
Everything announced at the PlayStation State of Play June 2026
Beyond that, the play-by-play commentary is available to see all of our thoughts and reactions as the State of Play was happening. What was your favorite reveal?
Fortnite's The Mandalorian and Grogu Watch Party Island is far more than just a Star Wars theater
Fortnite key art features lots of Star Wars characters. The Mandalorian and Grogu Watch Party Island is here, as promised, and the Stars Wars collaboration with Fortnite has shifted into an entirely new gear. I'd previously argued that I didn't think anyone was prepared for the amount of Star Wars that was about to hit Fortnite – and that very much applies here as the new island is more than just a bunch of set dressing around the edges of a screening experience.
Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight review: "Arkham flavor combines with Lego comedy better than I expected, making for a true Bat-Celebration"
The key art for Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight showing a shadowed Batman superimposed in front of a neon and spotlight lit Gotham City. Every Batman video game that comes out for the rest of eternity will be measured against the Arkham titles, and Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight knows it.
Mixtape review: "A nostalgic, vibes-based experience set to a shockingly solid soundtrack"
Mixtape screenshot featuring the three main characters pushing a shopping cart while being chased. Stacy Rockford is right; music is magic. The main protagonist of Mixtape, Rockford posits that the right piece of music is both a path to where we're going as well as a record of where we've been. The soundtrack of our lives goes forward and backwards, playing and rewinding.
I don't think anyone is prepared for the amount of Star Wars that's about to hit Fortnite
The current evolution of popular games of a certain size goes something like this: release, get popular, make brand deals, release creative tools, make more brand deals, launch a platform, make even more brand deals. Relatedly, Epic Games' Fortnite is now adding the ability to use Star Wars assets in Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) and Fortnite Creative to create all kinds of Star Wars-inspired islands, like the ones mentioned above.
Mouse: P.I. For Hire is great for a couple hours, fine for several more, and then a long exhausting exercise
Mouse: P.I. For Hire screenshot featuring an enemy melting down to their skeleton. After 10 hours of Mouse: P.I. For Hire, the noir shooter with 1930s-style animation flair from developer Fumi Games and PlaySide Studios, I might be done.
Jughead causes a pie-fight apocalypse in new Archie one-shot from Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow writer
Archie Comics cover for Jughead: Piemaggedon one-shot. Newsarama can exclusively reveal that Archie Comics is set to cause a food fight to end all food fights in Jughead: Piemageddon, a new one-shot comic from writer Tom King and artist Dan Parent, later this summer.
Blighted, the cannibal Soulslike Metroidvania action RPG with "psychedelic Western nightmare" art, is a lot to swallow
Blighted key art featuring a monstrous creature on the ground in the background. I'm not very good at Blighted, I quickly determine while darting through a mountainous region in a co-op session during GDC 2026. I mistime more than half my dodges, and it takes what feels like a long time to reach the boss in large part because I keep getting my head kicked in by various enemies we – me and one of the developers – encounter across the psychedelic landscape.
I fell in love with action-adventure game At Fate's End when my sister tore her arm off to make a lightning sword
At Fate's End key art showcasing your initial sword without logo. I'm trying to convince my sister to, essentially, give up her life to me, because I need to collect all of my family's swords, and doing so ultimately kills them. I'm already in the thick of things during my first moments playing At Fate's End, the upcoming action-adventure-RPG from Thunder Lotus Games, so some of the specifics elude me, but the point is: tricky conversation to have.
I wish I were melting my brain in Screenbound right now instead of simply writing about it, and I'm not bitter about it at all
Screenbound screenshot showcasing the 3D world in the background with sky and clouds and Qboy in foreground. Look, it's not that I don't want to write about Screenbound, the upcoming puzzle platformer developed by Crescent Moon Games and Radical Forge, I'd just much rather be playing it, all things being equal.
I built the biggest, ugliest vase Double Fine's Kiln would let me and immediately got bullied by better potters
Kiln key art featuring colorful spirit-inhabited pots duking it out. I decide the moment I get my hands on Kiln, the upcoming multiplayer video game from Double Fine where you fight as, with, and against pots of varying shapes and sizes, that I'm going to make the biggest, ugliest vase the editor will let me. I've not got long to do it, but I quickly scrobble through all the tools available to me and make an absolute mess of a jug.
The only thing missing from this Cuphead-meets-Doom boomer shooter is the heavy metal soundtrack
Rollin Bishop What if Disney had made Doom 100 years ago? And what if, instead of a grizzled marine, it starred a noir-tinged hardboiled detective that also happens to be a mouse named Jack Pepper? That's the wavelength that Mouse: P.I. For Hire from developer Fumi Games and publisher PlaySide is working on.
Invincible VS director wants players to feel like "a f**king superhero," so expect matches that are a "knock-down, drag-out fight until the death"
Invincible VS screenshot showing Dupli-Kate using her abilities. I've been looking forward to Invincible VS, the upcoming 3v3 tag fighter from developer Quarter Up, pretty much since it was first announced. I'm a stalwart fan of the Invincible animated series and have read all of the comics; a fighting game just makes sense. And if Invincible VS game director Dave Hall is to be believed, the game is going to deliver exactly what I want.
I already know Mina the Hollower is going to ruin my life
Mina the Hollower key art cropped to just show Mina. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening is my favorite Zelda, so it should really come as no surprise that I've been eyeballing Mina the Hollower from Shovel Knight developer Yacht Club Games for years at this point. In fact, I've been looking forward to it so much that I've tried to avoid as much about it as possible until release – which means I'd not participated in previous demos.
Super Meat Boy 3D frustrates me just as much as the original – in a good way
Super Meat Boy 3D gameplay on Switch 2 showing the protagonist, a red cube of meat, running between lasers and blades. Super Meat Boy, the 2010 platformer from Team Meat, is all about punishing mistakes. Not for the sake of punishment, really, but as a learning tool to train muscle memory and visual reflexes to eventually succeed. Similarly, having now played nearly an entire world on the Nintendo Switch 2 while at GDC 2026, Super Meat Boy 3D takes the same punishment to an entirely new dimension.
Big Walk could be your next Peak-like obsession, but fair warning: it's almost too easy to kick things and you're going to do it
"This isn't a game where you can just not describe them," continues Disseldorp. "There's so much teamwork that you will need to kind of build that shared language. But through doing that, you take ownership and build a shared understanding of the game together." "You make your own little vernacular that you kind of refer to things by, and you have your own little story," adds House House developer Stuart Gillespie-Cook. "Plus, we wanted to really frustrate anyone who was making a wiki of the game.
Paranormasight: The Mermaid's Curse is a horror adventure, so I of course spent several hours diving for lobster instead
Key art for Paranormasight: The Mermaid's Curse showing the cast of characters against an ocean background with a mermaid image, cropped for a header. I can't stop diving in Paranormasight: The Mermaid's Curse, the new standalone entry in the horror-adventure visual novel franchise. There's ostensibly some kind of paranormal mystery playing out about mermaids and so on but I've not even really scratched the surface of that.
This musical turn-based RPG hits all the right chords, and you can play the free Steam demo right now
People of Note key art cropped to show pop singer Cadence and rocker Fret. As a notorious sucker for musicals – from High School Musical to The Book of Mormon – and turn-based role-playing games – I don't want to talk about how many hours I've spent in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, thank you very much – the musical turn-based RPG People of Note from developer Iridium Studios and publisher Annapurna Interactive is basically designed to play me like a fiddle.
These Baldur's Gate 3 treasure packs are a serious delight filled with Sirius dice
Photo of Baldur's Gate 3 Treasure Pack sitting on top of already opened bags. Do you need one of the Baldur's Gate 3 Treasure Packs from Sirius Dice? If asked, I will tell anyone that the question "do I need more dice?" is probably an emphatic "no." If you're the kind of person that has enough dice to then potentially have more, you do not need more dice. And yet, I still couldn't stop myself from salivating at the thought of getting my hands on some of these.
The vibrant, spicy RPG Dosa Divas is more cooking rhythm game than not – and it's kicking my butt
Samara and Amani in Dosa Divas lean out of their Goddess mech to plate food. Like many tasks in Dosa Divas, the upcoming video game from Outerloop Games, I first need to cook a dosa. A dosa is basically a savory crepe, and my mouth waters whenever I have to make the digital ones. You see, I need to feed the hungry folks in town, as that's what it'll take to convince them to build a bridge to my next objective. Actually cooking it, however, is done through a multiple-step rhythm game process.
I'm in my happy place: a dark basement digging through a computer archive that may or may not be alive
TR-49 screenshot showcasing the archive machine and some text as well as the dial to the side. As a journalist, even an entertainment journalist, there is an ingrained nostalgia for something like newspaper microfiche. You know, that storage method you've probably seen in movies or TV shows where the plucky protagonists are scrolling through brightly lit images of old newspapers until they suddenly discover the article or photo that blows the case wide open.
Everything announced at the Xbox Developer Direct 2026
Forza Horizon 6 (Image credit: Xbox) The Xbox Developer Direct kicked off with a first look at Forza Horizon 6, which was given a May 19, 2026, release date for PC and Xbox Series X. Playground Games is going all out as it brings the Horizon Festival to Japan for the very first time, pushing a vast and more vertical open-world to explore from the seat of your favorite sports car.
After 4 years, Primal picks up where it left off without losing any of its grim violence or emotional core
Primal season 3 image featuring zombie Spear fighting a lion. Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal, the dark and violent animated series that has thus far followed the Neanderthal Spear and dinosaur Fang across two seasons of adventures, is finally back for a third season on Adult Swim after nearly four years. And while I don't necessarily think it's better than ever, having seen the entire new season for myself, I would argue that it's certainly as good as it's ever been – which is very, very good.
The 25 Best Comics of 2025
That's not to say there haven't been some serious highlights. While the comics industry itself maybe isn't in the best place ever, creators have continued to do some of their finest work. Just as a single example, DC's Absolute Universe has been a highlight this year, and several books feature prominently in our rankings. It's also still been a solid year for manga, which we've included in our overall rankings this year.
After 70 hours with Ghost of Yotei before the game even launched, I couldn't help but come back for more – and that's why it's my only platinum trophy of 2025
Ghost of Yotei. I don't finish very many video games. I suspect this isn't a unique sort of situation. I've got a job, a partner, and kids. There's a home to keep up, friends with which to keep connected. And that job, despite appearances, doesn't actually lend itself to completing (or sometimes even playing) terribly many video games. I am meant to have approximate knowledge of many things and the ability to know enough about a lot to make sense of it for others.
