I am a 25-year-old uni graduate and writer who works under a tightly committed, creative and hard-working nature that is the utmost fitting for any job I am assigned to. I view myself as an energetic, passionate and flexible individual who can provide the best outcome to any work assigned. I have the skill of paying close attention to detail, which benefits me in my work by allowing me to detect what needs to be done and how. I am highly engaged with social and political discourse and events, both current and previously in how they impact today’s world. I find myself to be a balance between both strong and open-minded, which to me means that even though I am confident and assertive in my opinions I still listen to others and take them into account during discussions. This is a skill of mine that I wish to exert in my work, I want to help educate but also learn myself for my own personal growth. I have previously written pieces of both academic and creative persona, such as analytical essays and scripts. I ensured that these works demonstrated my artistic skills, with originality and personality being key elements. I strongly feel that this writing experience strengthened my work ethic and creativity due to the opportunity to analyse and create media related texts. I have a skill for establishing and conserving my opinions in my pieces but can also convey an open mind and keenness to learn a variety of perspectives. As researching theoretical topics is a hobby of mine, I can analyse media and create my own following these theories’ formulas. This ranges from Marxism to Psychoanalysis, alongside elements of Feminism and Queer theory. Theoretical writing is a testimony to my passions and skills in the creative writing industry. I can execute the terminology in my work coherently and accurately yet innovatively apply the thesis to films. My stylistic and creative identity is developed with each piece I write and the progress only fuels my passion to create more. As a film enthusiast and student, an extensive amount of my social dialogues revolve around film and TV, whether that be excitement and expectations for the latest DC comic film, love letters to the historically significant art film style or opinions on the execution of subject matter in the latest horror contribution. I aim to convey the passion and knowledge these verbal discussions have into my written work. The passion I hold for the medium combined with my own ever-growing knowledge utilises my ability to succeed in this position; an experience I will be grateful for if achieved. I recently exerted these skills at the independent publication Far Out Magazine, specialising in film history, analysing and opinions.
