Students call on the University of New Brunswick to divest from fossil fuels

The University of New Brunswick (UNB) is still invested in fossil fuels. Students, faculty and the wider community in Fredericton wish to change that and are calling on the province of New Brunswick’s largest post-secondary institution to join the growing number of universities across Canada and the world divesting from fossil fuels. On Friday, March 25, students and allies will be rallying at a Fridays for the Future Global Climate Strike at the New Brunswick Legislature at 11:30am.

Student-led fossil fuel divestment campaigns continue in New Brunswick through the pandemic

FREDERICTON–Despite the pandemic, students at New Brunswick’s four main universities are keeping their focus on the need for climate action: getting their institutions to divest from fossil fuels. Divestment campaigns and actions to raise awareness of the climate crisis are ongoing at the University of New Brunswick (UNB), St. Thomas University (STU), Mt. Allison University (Mt. A), and l’Université de Moncton (U de M).
