Grounded
Photo taken by author. Image is of a weathered tree trunk covered in moss and fungus. Most days I feel invisible and alone, like no one sees me in a world of busy people bursting with ideas, each one screaming to be seen and heard. For some reason though, being quiet in a forest with the stream laughing over mossy rocks, petting lichen, and listening silently as birdsong echoes all around, the smallness — the invisibility — means something. I am part of something larger.
Black and White
A micro fiction The void. Abyss. Oblivion. Endless night. All around a deep, fathomless black that swallows sight and reason. Darkness knows nothing else. It’s comfortable keeping only itself as company, blind and cradled in its own murky depths. Time doesn’t matter in Darkness’s world. It simply exists, lost in itself. It’s a constant numb spiral. But, by and by, Darkness notices a pale spot in its coils that wasn’t there before. It studies the bright and burning speck, afraid.
A Dragon With Acid Reflux
Medium Pub Crawl In just a few days, I’ll be joining Medium’s Pub Crawl for the first time, and I am both excited and terrified. With so many publishers participating, there must be at least one who can appreciate my oddball, dark, (often) steamy creations. One who will want to help get them out to an audience who will be excited by the gore, vengeance, and seduction I love to write.
Indigo
A Fantasy Flash Fiction The sea is alive, rolling lazily in the sun. White froth. Dips and swells. A rise and fall, like breath. Its surface is a deep purple-blue. Indigo, like my name. One more way I’m tied to this slumbering beast of a curse. I watch the waves break and recede, caressing the sand at my feet. It’s sensual, that gentle whisper of water, if you don’t know what sand is. The water reaches. Come to me. Draws back. You belong here. Seductive. If you have a death wish.
PROCESS: Inside the Chaotic Mind of Halo Scot - Issue #5
Hmm…free-ation really doesn’t work as a phrase, does it? WELL, WE’RE USING IT. I’ll keep this short, sweet, and savage, because no one wants a five-paragraph essay before we get to the damn chocolate cake recipe. I’ve divided the free-sources (also not working?) into categories, BECAUSE ORGANIZATION IS SEXY. Note that these are what I use, and they might not work for you, but I spent many eye-bleeding hours staring into the cybervoid to hopefully help or at least give you more options.
