Nukes, War and Moral Vanity
What does surrender look like in the world of geopolitics?
Shana Tova, Chag Samayach and Happy New Year from an Unorthodox Jew
In honor of Yom Kippur, I present one of my all-time worst pictures, taken at one of the most sacred Jewish sites in the Western Hemisphere – the bima (pulpit) from the Hebrew Congregation of St. Thomas, the 2nd oldest Jewish community in the Western Hemisphere, after Willemstad, Curaçao. I was there for my brother’s wedding in 2015. Visiting there was no less emotional than visiting the remaining wall of the 2nd Temple in Jerusalem (Wailing Wall.) Shana Tova, Chag Samayach and Happy New Year.
Using LMS to Train a Multilingual Workforce
With the expansion of an organization, learning and development programs must be able to accommodate individuals from any corner of the world, irrespective of the languages they speak.
Home of the “Hellhounds,” Whiteman AFB Drone Squadron ‘Most Lethal’ in US
Note: Brian Terrell delivered this talk at the Oct. 1 peace witness sponsored by PeaceWorksKC, at Whiteman AFB, near Knob Noster, MO. Leading up to this protest there was discussion among organizers about the nature of drone operations here at Whiteman Air Force Base. Is this a training facility, or are Reaper drones engaged in lethal activities, are actual murders committed from this place, in real time in places far away by remote control?
Whose Kids? Our Kids?
As public schools enter their third year of COVID, public education as a system is staggering on the ropes. Since 2020, more than half a million teachers have left the profession. Public school teachers all report that last year’s challenges for student sociability and mental health were not functionally addressed. This year will be as challenging as the last two. There has never been a more momentous time to re-define public education.
2020 Vision #3: Eva Recacha
Eva’s work explores the use of text in dance, blending words and movement to create meaning in a technical exercise. Her interest in creating a movement language based on rhythmic behaviour and spatial relationships was evident in her critically acclaimed works Begin to Begin and The Wishing Well. She began her choreographic career in UK in 2010, taking a break between 2015 and 2017 due to becoming a mother.

OTHER VOICES: We fondly remember the Klee Wyck of our youth
As young girls, growing up in West Vancouver in the 1950s, we had the good fortune to visit Dr. Ethlyn Trapp at her beautiful home, Klee Wyck, situated on an acreage on the banks of the Capilano River. Our father, Robert Spray, was the Chairman of the West Vancouver Parks Board at that time. He had befriended Dr. Trapp and entered into discussions with her regarding the future of her estate, upon her death.
