Magical run ends as Jaguars fall at Chiefs in divisional round
By Hays Carlyon KANSAS CITY, Mo. – This will be the last time the Jaguars are double-digit underdogs for a long while. Perhaps years. Perhaps a decade. The losing is over. A magical season ended Saturday in the AFC Divisional Round as the mistake-riddled Jaguars lost to Kansas City 27-20 at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs, favored by 10 points, didn’t commit a turnover while the Jaguars had two. There is certainly sadness that the spectacular six-game winning streak finally ended. But be excited.
Simply stunning: Jaguars rally from 27 down to edge Chargers
By Hays Carlyon The Jaguars have believed all season. That belief has evolved into not only thinking they can do the improbable, but the near impossible. Doubt them at your own peril. I thought the game was over. I was wrong. The Jaguars trailed the Los Angeles Chargers 27-0 late in the second quarter on Saturday night at TIAA Bank Field. They had committed five turnovers. Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw four interceptions.
AFC SOUTH CHAMPS: Defense carries Jags to win over Titans
By Hays Carlyon Saturday night was supposed to be a legacy game for Jaguars second-year quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Instead, he was bailed out by a defensive and special teams effort that will be talked about for as long as the Jaguars are a franchise.
LAMM AT LARGE: End of The Year Notes
Like most of my colleagues, I’ve always done an end of the year piece reviewing the past year. Unlike most of my colleagues, I don’t necessarily just write about the biggest or most important stories. I talk about what left a lasting impression on me. The late season run by the Jaguars was outstanding, but the vast improvement of quarterback Trevor Lawrence won’t be forgot.
Rest Easy: Jaguars Take Care of Business By Routing Texans
By Hays Carlyon HOUSTON – Bring on the Titans. Jacksonville is ready. The Jaguars took care of business with an impressive maturity, dispatching the Texans 31-3 in NRG Stadium on Sunday. The victory snapped Houston’s nine-game winning streak in the series. The Jaguars (8-8) opened up a 28-0 lead early in the third quarter, allowing coach Doug Pederson the luxury of resting some key players like quarterback Trevor Lawrence, running back Travis Etienne and right guard Brandon Scherff.
Vikings stay undefeated by routing Texans, 31-13 - Beloit Daily News: Sports
Brock Osweiler was overmatched by Minnesota’s relentless rush and coverage, finishing 19 for 42 for 184 yards, one interception and a late touchdown pass while taking four sacks. The Texans (3-2) were denied on 12 of 13 third downs, unable or unwilling to do much other than dump off short passes. Lamar Miller only had eight carries for 20 yards during a dud of a performance by the Texans that felt a lot like the 27-0 loss at New England two weeks ago.
