Ryan Schill

Ryan Schill is an award-winning journalist based in Atlanta, Ga. He is the Editor of the Juvenile Justice Information Exchange and Managing Editor for Digital News Operations at the Center for Sustainable Journalism, where he writes and edits investigative and analytical feature news stories about the juvenile justice system, child welfare and youth issues. He is also part-time faculty in the journalism program at Kennesaw State University in Georgia.

In 2012, Ryan wrote a comics journalism piece detailing the ongoing U.S. immigration debate and focusing on the plight of KSU student Jessica Colotl. The Juvenile Justice Information Exchange–a project of the Center for Sustainable Journalism–produced the comic in collaboration with Cartoon Movement. The comic was edited by Pulitzer-nominated editorial cartoonist Matt Bors and featured art by Greg Scott. Ryan has shared this experience in a series of lectures about comics journalism and alternative story forms to students at Kennesaw State University and Georgia State University.

He also wrote a piece entitled "Fractured Leg, Fractured Family" about a case of misdiagnosed child abuse. He was awarded first place in the non-deadline writing category of the Society of Professional Journalists Green Eyeshade Awards in 2011 for the article.
