What was your first job as a journalist?

What does it mean to be a journalist?

It means to tell unheard stories in such a way that people care.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

Yep - I was on the editorial board.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

I loved working on marriage equality, and about the availability of the HIV prevention pill PrEP, in India.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

That self-identity equates to bias, rather than expertise.
