Biologging instruments are proven tools used to investigate migration, temperature selection, vertical habitat use, and post-release survivorship of marine fishes [1–4]. A variety of biologging instruments (hereafter referred to as BIs), such as data loggers, pop-up satellite archival tags (PSATs), and tri-axial accelerometers, are commonly employed to study marine animal behavior across all marine biomes [5–8].
