Spa F2: Sette Camara wins after huge Matsushita crash
Championship leaders Charles Leclerc and Oliver Rowland charged back to fifth and eighth, with both scoring points after being excluded from the feature race for technical infringements. At the start, Sette Camara shot off the line to jump from third to first, demoting polesitter Nato, who was then challenged by De Vries and eventually lost second to the Dutch driver on the run to Les Combe.
Red Bull Ring F2: Markelov wins, Leclerc collides with teammate
Pole-sitter Markelov kept the lead off the line but fellow front-row starter Ralph Boschung bogged down. Almost all the field flew past the Swiss before series returnee Raffaele Marciello hit the back of the Campos car. While Boschung then managed to leave the grid, Marciello retired on the spot, bringing out the safety car. After the restart, Leclerc immediately made a move on Jordan King for fifth and ran behind his teammate Antonio Fuoco, who was attacking Oliver Rowland.
Barcelona F2: Leclerc fends off Ghiotto to win again
Leclerc beat Luca Ghiotto and Oliver Rowland to extend his championship points lead for Prema Racing. At the start, Leclerc defended hard against the Russian Time car of Ghiotto but held the lead on the run down to the first corner. Ghiotto dived down the inside of Leclerc at Turn 4, briefly gaining the lead before locking up and sliding wide, which allowed the Monegasque driver to reclaim first place.
Barcelona F2: Leclerc bags pole with last-gasp lap
Prema Racing’s Leclerc – who also topped practice earlier on Friday – went quickest with a time of 1m29.285 with the last lap of the session. Leclerc’s improvement prevented Russian Time’s Luca Ghiotto from taking what would have been a maiden pole in F1’s feeder series – rebranded from GP2 for 2017 – as the Italian driver had gone quickest just before the red flags.
Monza F2: Ghiotto fights back to claim sprint win
Ghiotto, who won yesterday’s feature race on the road before being demoted to fourth with a post-race penalty, charged up from fifth on the grid with a series of determined passes to seal his second GP2/F2 victory. Championship leader Charles Leclerc fought his way to ninth after being involved in a late-race crash in the feature event, but could not score a point, while his title rival Oliver Rowland made his way up to 11th from 19th on the grid.
Monza F2: Ghiotto wins after last-lap de Vries/Leclerc clash
Leclerc and de Vries came together while exiting the first chicane after a late-race safety car phase, which was caused by Oliver Rowland retiring when a wheel fell off his DAMS-run car. Leclerc and de Vries eventually finished in 17th and 18th respectively. At the start, de Vries leapt off the line to seize first place from Matsushita.
Monza F2: Markelov leads teammate Ghiotto in practice
ART Grand Prix and McLaren-Honda Formula 1 junior drivers Nobuharu Matsushita and Nyck de Vries completed the top five, ahead of Leclerc’s closest title rival Oliver Rowland, who was sixth. The 45-minute session got underway with spots of rain falling at the northern Italian circuit, but the drivers were able to complete their running on the dry medium compound Pirelli tyres, with the sun later emerging and temperatures rising.
Sepang GP2: Ghiotto victorious, Gasly beats Giovinazzi to podium finish
Ghiotto had a better getaway than pole-sitter Mitch Evans to take the lead from the Campos driver following the opening sequence of corners. The safety car was out on Lap 2 after a collision between Racing Engineering duo Norman Nato and Jordan King. The Frenchman just passed his teammate for fourth at Turn 1 but ended up being spun out by King a corner later, which left his car stranded. While Ghiotto had a good restart, Evans lost another spot to Raffaele Marciello.
Giovinazzi, Jeffri excluded from qualifying due to tyre pressures
Giovinazzi, who is second in the standings, was set to start tomorrow's race from the front row, beaten by only half a tenth by points leader Pierre Gasly. However, one tyre on his car was below the permitted pressure limit and he was ordered to the back of the grid as a result. Arden's Nabil Jeffri claimed his first top 10 qualifying result but had two tyres in breach of the regulations and will join Giovinazzi on the last row as a result.
