It can be a form of accountability. It's a test to make sure you are on your game as a journalist.

Something from the heart, and where the passion that the person has can be seen clearly.
What's your favorite social network?
Twitter for its instantaneous updates as well as it's global connectedness. Reddit is also one of my favorites.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Write as much as you can. It's great to to focus on what you are most passionate about, but don't be afraid to broaden your horizons either.
